| Okay, so I'm part of a team of people in my office that develop our Business Continuity Plan...what to do in emergency situations to get our business back up and running again as quickly as possible. They handed out these flip chart cards that we are supposed to keep at our desk. One section is called "Preparing for Emergencies". One suggestion they have is to obtain a "radio with a hand crank to generate electricity" I just have to chuckle at this because 1. I've never seen such a thing nor would I know where to get one, and 2. I just have this horrible visual of me sitting there turning this handcrank for all it's worth!! Just thought I'd share...

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Just because you asked ... http://www.hammacher.com/publish/65939.asp I have had some experience with disaster preparedness projects ... one thing that the IT people always seem to do is planning to get the computer-room back up a.s.a.p., but they neglect to plan for the client recovery. Since I work in for the pharma industry, there is always the danger of contaminating a building, which would mean that hundreds of PCs would no longer be available. In that case, you need to have a contract with a manufacturer that they can pump up production and deliver a truckload of machines in a few hours, then have the systems in place to set them up with your company standard environment and application portfolios. Hope this helped in some way

| Yes, we also have a "drop shipment" of pc's etc set up. Do you have a "hot site" that you would relocate to in the event of a long term need?

| Muscle Biker ![]() | No need, really. The big phamaceutical companies here in Basel are so well spread out across the city, that they would just move the people to another company location within the city.
