Ok after much indecision you may recall that I settled on the National Cycle Cruiseliner hardbags. Here is a pic I photoshopped of what they should look like after I paint them (wrong bike of course) ![]() OK...They have arrived. They are gloss black from the factory....they fit like a dream along the side of the fender and look terrific....but they wont stay on.... I will post pics of the problem soon as I get my camera back from a friend. They have a quick release mechanism inside each bag with a D ring to turn it...that consists of a slightly oval headed pin that inserts into a springloaded retainer on the mounting frame. The whole thing looks like it costs a least 25 cents..... in principle, you twist the thing a quarter turn and it locks in place. Mine turn and turn and turn and never find a locking position. Therefore, I am beginning the $#@&)% trouble of seeing what National Cycle will do to fix it... I have asked for a matched pair of the inserts and the mount (that they verify will lock together before sending). I can see it is simple to drill out the retainer and insert a simple bolt.... but then I have modified their part and all warranty bets are off. And for $800 bucks I should not have to modify it and lose the quick release ability ! Other than incredibly cheap hardware, I am really liking these bags.. I will post pics in a day or so...
