Default The Wife

The wife just called me and told me there was a jackass (==> ) in front of her at the stop sign that tried to do a burn-out and busted his keester in the intersection.

She honked at him, to signal that he needed to pick up what was left of his bike and get the hell out of the way.

The best part: The bike had a "For Sale" sign tacked to the windshield. I wish I'd been there.

She honked at him too. That's great.

That's why I married her . . . the God-given sense to honk at morons.

I think he should sue the motorcycle manufacturer, the tire company. the contractor who laid down the road, and your wife for causing mental anguish.

......oops, wrong thread.

Something similar here in Dallas on Monday night... I was out with a friend in his cage. We pulled up behind a CBR and GSXR at a red light. Light went green and the CBR 12 o'clocked off the starting line. When the rear cowl hit the ground, he lost it and slid about 20 feet. The GSXR just looked like, 'WTF?!?' We put our flashers on in the cage to help block traffic for them, and got out to see if they needed help... The CBR guy was just stunned and shocked, so I picked up (pieces of) his bike and got it into the local Staples parking lot. I asked the guy what he was thinking riding like that, and he just snapped. He started cussing at me and F this and F that and F you. I realize that he was pissed beacuse he just totalled his bike, but I have no sympathy since he was now being a jerk. Mr. GSXR pulled us aside and thanked us for helping and for blocking traffic. We drove by the Staples again later on the way home and saw his bike was still there in the parking lot. I guess Mr. CBR had to ride b!tch on the GSXR to get home. Serves him right.

Good for you for stopping to help the idiot pick up what's left of his bike (and ego). The guy my wife saw wanted to stand there and survey the damage while everyone else waited, when he should have been picking his stuff up and getting it to the curb.

She honked at him, as did a few other cars.

Oops!!

I got it right off the bat, even though I didn't realize I had posted three times about the horn:

You see, the horn is important to me. I often times honk at someone that's done something stupid to someone else, not just when they've done something stupid to me. IMHO, if we all honk at idiots, they'll realize that people notice, and maybe they'll change the way they drive.

In reality, most folks in a given situation don't notice anything that happens, so . . . I guess they need to be honked at also, for not paying attention.

I really hate it when I honk at an idiot that is SO obviously in the wrong . . . and they honk back. Pitiful. If I get "honked down" for something stupid (as if ), I lower the head and give the "I'm sorry for being stupid wave."

This is probably the deepest and most touching few paragraphs about the art and science of honking that I have ever read. I need a tissue, excuse me... Honk on!

I had no idea there is such a thing as honking etiquette. But then, noone else around here does, either. On those rare occasions when I honk at some deserving person, they invariably give me that universal hand signal to let me know that I am #1 with them, for sure .

Maybe honking should be taught in Adult Driver's Ed. Adult Driver's Ed (ADE) is my idea for granny's/grandpa's and the like. It will ceritify you to drive a mama-bus (aka "Mini-Van") before you actually become a soccer-mom. It will teach proper etiquette for those enormous 4x4's that we rednecks deal with here in the South. It may keep a few idiots off the road. Maybe I should put some serious thought into this one...
