Default Hockey Thread.

I don't care if hockey is ever as popular as football, baseball or basketball in the U.S. I grew up playing it as well as all the other sports listed above and it is by far the most fun sport to play. It's also a great "live" sport to watch. I've converted many southeners who've never seen hockey into true fans by taking them to games here in Atlanta. Once they've gone to the games they were hooked. It's non stop action.

I've been a Redwing fan since 1983 when they drafted a young skinny 17yr old canadian kid named Steve Yzerman. He turned out to be pretty decent. Okay he's my favorite player of all time.

Since moving to Georgia I've adopted the Thrashers as my second team and root for them as well. I take my kids to many of there games each season. I missed the opening night game for the first time in 9yrs last night because of other obligations. But it was good to see the Thrashers get a 7-4 win over the Caps., especially after starting last season 0-6. As for my Redwings they lost their first game 3-2 to Toronto on a night where they lifted their 11th championship banner to the rafters of the Joe. I'm not too worried about them. They be right there again in the hunt at the end of the season.

I'd love for other hockey fans to chime in on this thread thru out the season to say whatever they want about their teams or just hockey talk in general.
