Default Game of the Week

This Thursday San Jose at Detroit. Probably the two best Western Confernce teams. Should be a good one, but only if our goaltending steps up.

I see that Vancouver is going to retire Trevor Linden's number on wednesday. Kudo's to him. He doesn't have HOF numbers but he's who I think of when I hear Vancouver Canucks. Very solid career.

And yes the Thrashers still blow. No defense, below avg. offense, below avg. goaltending. We received a double spanking by the Bruins this weekend. Embarrassing.

When Vancouver hired Mike Keenan then Mark Messier and Linden was traded, he just was not the Player he was before.
He was moved from a winger to Center.
When play offs came along he always stepped up his game.

To a lot of us here, he will always be a Canuck and a good role model for kids.

A class act.

Sundin has stated he will hold off till after Linden's sweater is retired to announce which team he is going to.

New York Rangers $4-5 mil. prorated
Vancouver Canucks $10 mil. prorated

Length of Luongo's down time may be the big issue.

maybe we would be better off with Peter Forsberg????

He has not played since last season, should announce his decision today.

Canucks on a roll have won their 2nd in a row.

Has he been hurt or is he just holding out? I don't think he's "all that". He's going to be one of those guys who's overpaid based on what he did 5yrs ago. Still not a bad player, but he's not a top 10 player like he thinks he is.

And how is it that Toronto can't get a good club going over there? It's the New York of Canada...............well I guess I just answered my own question............my bad.

They just signed Brian Burke a short time ago. He has lots of Cap Room, so expect him to start dealing after the Xmas trade freeze (Dec. 27).

Sundin just started training a little over a month ago in Calif., he wants to go to a Cup contender.
Vancouver made an offer last summer of $20,000,000 for 2 years.
They amended that to $10M for 1 year, prorated like NYR, but with Luongo down that may be out the window.

Well Sundin is now a Canuck.

He had 36 goals last season.

If Luongo can get healthy and Sundin stays healthy, we should make a run for it.

As for San Jose, did I select wrong in the pool this week!!!!

Lidstrom has been out for two games because of a shot took to his ankle. They have lost both games. Is he really that important to the team?

Canucks now lead the NHL in most penalties.

The game against San Jose was pure agony.

Haven't posted in awhile ...

Congrats to Trevor Linden on his jersey retirement. He was always a classy act player in my books.

It's going to be interesting to see what Sundin can do in his first few games back. With still more room in their salary cap, I think the Canucks are going to make some noise in the second half of the season.

My hockey pool race is pretty tight right now, I just caught the leader and am now tied for first place with the 3rd place guy only a point away. But I've lost Paul Stastny.

I think the jury is still out on Sundin and no update on Luongo,

And the Canucks have to stay out of the Box.

Then along comes Ottawa, it is hard to believe a team is even worse that the Canucks.

As for my pool selections I tanked the week before when I jumped on the San Jose Band Wagon!!

Thrashers are up 2-0.................Uh-oh...........what's this.........there now down 3-2 & are being outshot 43-28 half way in the third period with freakin' CuJo in the net. I thought he retired like 3yrs ago.

New years resolution...............Find a way to fire GM Don Waddell and hire someone who actually knows how to put a 4 line team together.

I thought Cujo was playing in Europe. I wonder who we'll see next Eddie the Eagle?

You think Sundin would strap on some skates during his time off knowing he was going to come back. Anyways he's been skating for most of his life so I'm sure he won't forget how. Although it seems like he has been doing cardio stuff in the meantime.

Anyone watching the Junior Hockey Tournament?
