But Anahiem was the best defensive team in the playoffs and had the hottest goalie. I think Detroit matches up even better with Chicago. Should be a fun series.

ugh, too many mistakes are being made by the Hawks so far. Let's hope they clean up their act once they get back to the Chi-town.

Looking like Wings vs. Penguins part II. Both up 2-0 and looking strong.

Here's my take on things.........
  • Wings are a much deeper team and are getting contributions from their younger unheralded players.
  • Osgood is playing his best hockey of the season right now.
  • Listrom & Zetterberg are smoothering any open ice for Crosby.
  • Wings are getting the bounces right now, not the Penguins.
With that said just like last year Pittsburgh might be able to turn things around in games 3 & 4. If Crosby gets on track things could change.

I predicted Wings in 6 before the series started and I'm sticking with that.

IN GENERAL SPORTS/MEDIA SIDE NOTE:
I get tired of the Media or Sports Leagues trying to manufacture stories. For example the NBA wanted so desperately to have a Kobe/LeBron finals, created all these commercials before the Cavs. were even in the Finals. The NBA wants a Magic/Bird thing again soooo bad its pitaful.

Same thing with the NHL. The NHL wants Crosby/Malkin to be Gretsky/Messier soooo bad that just about can't stand it. Just let today's players be today's players. Theres only one Magic, Bird, Gretsky, Messier. Just because something happened 25yrs ago doesn't mean it's gonna happen today.

Will see if having the last change will make a difference.

Melrose also picked the Wings in 6, same as last year and he was right then.

The Wings are deep, real deep.

It's going to take more then just Crosby to change things. Staal's line has got to be more productive. Malkin's got to stop taking stupid penalties. Fleury's got to be better too.

Anyway Lets go Pens

I collected 12 points total in the first 2 games, 16 points in game 3.

Pens got the bounces last night.

The Wings achilles heel is their PK. Makes no sense with the people they can put out there that their so bad on killing penalties. I can't figure it out.

Datsyuk might actually play in game 4. Hopefully we can swing the momentum back our direction.

Pens won't quit. Plus their special teams is playing better than Detroits now. Now it's a best of 3 series. Nobody has won a game on the road.

Game 5 will be huge for both teams. It's getting interesting now!

Interesting you say this. Go back to 1983 and Gretzky scores a key goal in game 4 to win and take a 3-1 lead - Messier wins the MVP. You never know.

Go Pens.

Tidbit - My wife sits down just before the Stahl goal and then sees the Crosby goal. I say she should grab some snacks and she said to wait til the period is over. I'm used to "Is this what we're watching?"

We'll just have to wait and see how it all ends up. In a long 6 or 7 game series there's always alot of momentum changes. Detroit looked like they had the series up 2-0. Now the Pens look like their in control. However if Detroit wins game 5 then the Pens are facing elimination. Makes for a good series. It's not over for either team until somebody steps up and wins the deciding game.

like Mickey Redmond likes to say "aint no place for a nervous person"...

game 3 was pretty crappy and game 4 was just abysmal...

okay, so the redwings have sucked on the powerplay. DONT give up shorthanded goals for cryin' out loud!

3 goals in 5-1/2 minutes is inexcusable. how many odd man rushes did the penguins get? seriously?

what happened to the Red Wings 3rd and 4th lines that for years have been as good or better than many teams 1st and 2nd lines. they SUCKED last night...

speaking of Sucking, OZZIE! fer pete's sake what kind of goals are you going to give up if the pens get HOT instead of just being able to take advantage of some crappy plays...

i dont care if the wings dont THREE-peat. theres never been a pro team in detroit to three-peat. i DONT want them to be the 2nd team to lose a stanley cup rematch (currently 7 repeats to 1 upset)...

The youngsters got schooled in game 5. We'll see if they learned anything from it.

Lets go Pens
