Um, Landry, the price of grains (notably rice and wheat) HAVE TRIPLED! It's not just oil, my friend. The orbital jump in grain prices is of more concern to most of the people on this planet than the price of oil. There is a (well founded) concern that mass starvation will occur in many African and Far Eastern countries because the population can't afford to buy staple foods anymore.

I would prefer that we drill now. Why not? If we drill now and extract oil in a few years, not 10 to 15 years and at the same time perfect alternate fuel sources we would be way ahead of the game.

Fuel Cell technology....hydrogen on demand made in the automobile!!!

Ever hear the theroy that oil is a natural by-product of the earth's core?

Or do you still believe it's made from Dinosaurs, a speculation made by a German Scientist in 1757.

Funny......every dinosaur I ever saw was bones....never did see any oil?
Do a search on Dinusaur Oil myth..........

We're selling wheat to the Saudi's for 7 bucks a bushel....maybe we should raise it to $140 per bushel.

Excellent. Let the world bow at our feet!!!

We WILL drive our nasty SUVs or they WILL starve. Bottom line.

We should charge the OPEC nations more for grain than we do everyone else. They can afford it.

Both oil and coal are accumulated hydrocarbons, presumably of organic origins.

So you're saying it is only a drop in the bucket so why bother?

You know, a million little drops add up to a whole bucket...

Honestly there's no point in trying to explain because you'll just end up shooting down any ideas that don't fit your world view. Just like any other leftist.

Wow. That was a backhanded, snotty thing to say. You don't know a damned thing about me, so rather than making a strong argument, you pull that crap? Nice.

I've been honest and respectful of the matter at hand. You've offered nothing but pie-in-the-sky rhetoric.

Which is EXACTLY why this thread should have been quashed before it got this far.

Totally predictable. TOTALLY.

I just felt this thread needed some holiday cheer.

BTW, I think it's a demand. "God you better bless us or else!"

Dickens quote, a tangent from the turtle post. Smart move.

BTW, I think Mike starts these threads so he can sit back while enjoying a beer just to watch you guys have a mud fight. How's the show Mike?? Works every time.

Make sense to me.

Folks, the time has come for us all to realize the problem is us. Not politics, not the arabs, not the caribou. It is our ridiculous and at least 30% frivolous demand for fuel that drives the cost. Men are making millions gambling that we will all continue to be fools. And they are winning.

Take mass-transit to work, stop making unnecessary trips, cut your consumption down, buy a vehicle that gets at lest 25-28 MPG (believe it or not, the savings are not that great above that if you do the math.) Reduce your demand, change your thermostat, live close to work.

Change, stop blaming others for a problem you created. Stop looking for an answer to the prices and start looking for ways to trim your usage and we will all win.
