Default Hello, all, it's been a few weeks.

Hey, all.

Just stopping in to say hello and I'm still doing well. Everyone here with me is good to go and we have passed the halfway mark. Been really interesting. I am doing things I never thought I would be doing in the Army. Meeting with leaders and villagers. Talking the big picture. Not my bag, but I am getting along well enough.

What a place though. People are incredibly poor with nothing to show, but they are always offering what they have. They will give you the last of thier food and chai (tea), just to be hospitable. It's amazing. We refuse the food, but man I love the chai! It certainly keeps up busy and some places we go, we don't have an opportunity to do things we usually take for granted, like call home, check e-mail, and post on M-J.com.

Pfft. You can get a Chai Latte at any Starbucks ... you don't need to fly halfway across the world for that!

Good to hear from you Chickster! Keep your head down and your weapons clean!

Thanks for checking in again. It's good to get a first-hand account of some of the situation. Best of luck moving forward.

The prison break was in Kandahar. About 300 miles or so from me. So, in the US that would be about a 2-3 hour drive. Here. About a week. Most of them probably fled to Pakistan or Iran for a while. They are being hunted and quite a few have been caught or worse already. Still leaves a lot of them at large though.

Geoff, thos suckers are popping up like crazy now. Freak me right the F)(& out! Fast little suckers, and they jump! Not actually a spider. More in the scorpion family. Die little bugger, die!!!!

Them bugs give me the creeps, too! I am doing good, thoug. Keep dropping the weight. I attached a photo from about 2 weeks ago. I am down to 177 lbs. That's 27 pounds down. I am getting there. Keeping away from the fattening stuff is tuff.

Thanks for all the support guys and gals! I will keep in touch. I am really missing the ride. I can't wait to get back. Hopefully the winter won't be too bad. I have also been thinking about a new ride. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. I have time to think about it. I was thinking along the lines of a touring or sport tourning, to be able to commute more often.
