Default Honda at a HOG Rally

So i went with my in-laws this weekend to a HOG rally. I borrowed on of their shadows. In our little group there was two shadows and a VTX 1800. We rode around town most of the day and was thinking about heading home when the lead rider had a front flat. We were just across the street from all of the vendors and we didnt have one rider stop to offer help. The vendors wouldnt let us use a compressor to inflate the tire after a plug. We had to ride to a nearby Autozone and buy a compressor. This weekend really confirmed my suspicion about harley riders. Other than that is was a good weekend.

hmm.... granted no flat tire but at a car club dealio near me i drove my bike to see it. They had an area blocked off for cycle.. I was about to park and i saw all harleys so i was thinking oh great... bunch of arrogant ass hats... but the guy got up and got my attention and was yelling towards me "we don't care what you ride, you can park here". Nice group of guy's.. BS'd with them for a bit. I guess I learned not all harleys are driven by d-bags

I think this was the exception to the rule. I ride all the time with Harley riders and have attended a few poker runs. They even comment on how good looking my bike is. No prejudice around here that I've seen. Vendors not lending you a compressor is pretty damn low though. I'd have made a note of them and see if they have a website, then email and post on how lousy they are at customer relations.

Same attitude the Harley Dealership had when we purchased Rae's HD.
They said the old attitude of "if you not on a Hog" then your on junk is old news.

Sorry to hear about the bad experiences some of you have had. Yes, there are durt-bag H-D riders but, for those few there are a lot who are not. I used to feel the same until I started hanging out and riding more with my mom who also rides a H-D. So far everyone has been really cool. And like Pete said, at the H-D dealer they said we are all riding for the same reason no matter what you ride. I think the old school mentality is fading finally!

At my old job, my co-worker rode a Harley, a '76. I rode with his friends one weekend (all custom Harleys at that), and they were a swell bunch of guys. What was so surprising to them was how I was able to keep up with them at 65+ mph, and how fast I was able to catch up with the leader who was doing greater than 70.

But alas... there are 'some' guys living here in Paradise who tend to turn their noses into the wind whenever we passed on the highway. Regardless... I wave to all riders that I pass while cruising. Gotta spread the "Aloha Spirit!"

Oh, that was you. I wouldn't have flipped you off if I had known it was you. j/k
All of us HD guys aren't bad guys. I ride with the same group (95% HD) that I rode with when I had the zuki and they never care what I ride.

from my limited experience... the only ones i don't play nice with is the 'custom chopper' crowd...

they seem all high and mighty riding shirtless with their little chromed skid lids

its a funny thing, Pigtrail Harley Davidson here in Rogers, Ar holds sportbike night on wednesday nights. out of 100 or so bikes, there are only a few Buells and 20 or so Harley cruisers.

Not all Harley riders are like that. I have met a lot of them that welcome me. Not long ago I was on a ride by myself and ended up with a group on Harleys. They just blended me in with them so, I rode with them for a good while. They were a group of nice people. I have never owned a Harley and probably never will as I prefer sport bikes. But, there are some a-holes out there.

out of the probably 100-150 harleys that i saw today.. maybe 5 noticed my existence on the road. One at the gas station actually complemented me on my bike and said his next one was back to a crotch rocket and away from harley cruisers. He was tired of the style of riding i guess? Strangely he also was wearing a helmet.

I probably saw about 30 harleys today, none of them waved at passing cyclists not on harleys and none of them were wearing anything more than a skull cap. I'm pretty sure I only saw a handful that could even have been DOT certified. I did see some people in full out riding gear though, they were all on sport bikes, yes I saw a few squids on sport bikes as well today but they were far outnumbered by those on cruisers.

Hell, theres some H-D riders who don't even wave at other H-D riders. It's a fact...there are a-holes out there everywhere. We went to the H-D dealer where I bought my bike and there were some ladies (if thats what you want to call them) there that were not so nice. They thought their stuff didn't stink and they didn't even ride! They were passengers. Maybe they had to act that way because they were intimidated by me....I don't know?? Plus they looked like they had been rode hard and put away wet.

Well I do the wave thing and I get alot of non-waves from alot of folks. Won't point out who but you know what. I wish that dang wave was never invented. Get old after riding all day and especially in the mountains where there are hundreds of bikes.

But I still do it and if some Harley dude or any other rider doesn't want to wave at me who gives a rats a**. Let them go on with their own miserable existance.

JMO.

But to the A** hats that didn't help you out when you were in need. Their day will come. I always say and I still believe. "What comes around goes around,, some times it takes a hell of a long time to do so,, but it always comes back around."

They will be the guys that one day will be broke on the side of the road and no one stops for them. It would be nice if you ever saw them and knew who they were and just pull up and ask them if they need any help,, then say "Wait here I will go get help,, then go home, crack open the beer, and enjoy your favorite show."

But then again,, if you ever were to help then maybe the next time they may turn their attitude around. I always stop or slow down to ask if there is no one there helping already if it is possible.

The majority of the HD riders I've run into are great. Some are arrogant, but a lot of the ones that are snobs are the newer riders.

I've found that most of the old timers could care less what ya ride.

I wouldn't let this bad experience turn you off.

I've never seen what you encountered though. To not help someone out in need is just unacceptable.

Some razzing is OK, but that would really burn my ***.
