'Featured Photos' time warp - Motorcycle-Journal Forums

I have been noticing this for a long time....and I think we only get to see a relatively few people's photos in the featured photo area...and they seem to repeat. I can click on my browser's reload about 5 tiems and see repeats. I mean, I like Hawaii, but geeze... Atlas68 has been popping up a long time !

and I NEVER see pics of my bike or my photos. What gives? How do these photos get selected and shown?

Try using shift+refresh, and clear your cache. I'm seeing a good variety, though obviously those members with more photos get more visibility.

hmmm that is not it.

I do notice there is a place called 'pictures and albums' in user CP. it seems to say I have no albums....which is true.... but I have posted many pictures by clicking on a featured photo ...going to 'my photos' ...and uploading there..... so maybe the 'featured photos' come from albums??? and I have been uploading in the wrong place ?

I bet that's it! I refreshed for about two minutes looking for you, and I came up three times. I only have four photos!

so I have made an album.... tried a few dozen reloads...still not seeing mine.

also, I notice now that when I go to photos by clicking on featured photos, and then I have a choice of my photos or my albums...it doesnt think I have any albums??? but from user CP the album is there.

and, yes, I cleared the cache... many times...

Whazzzup with that?

Hey Annie, you made an album? When can we buy the CD? Are you going on tour? Maybe you can record a live DVD, too!

Im not sure how the pics are picked, but as far as the ones you notice it might be in what catches your eye. Just about everytime I see the pics I can almost guarantee to see my bike, clints bike, Atlas68 in Hawii and who has the little car, orange and white I think-I see that alot to

There is another place on the same page that says add an album as I recall...click that instead and it works. I had the same problem.

ok I waited another month....and STILL have never seen a single one of my pics in the Featured Photos....and I see the SAME photos over and over and over.

does ANYBODY know how that works? What is the secret to having a photo in the Featured Photos?

Since you started this tread I have created two albums and seen both of them in the Featured Photos area, you have to look each time you come back to the main page only one new photo may show up.

hmmmm ...well, i have one album...and I always look...and often refresh just to see the new set and look for my ride. My album has 6 pics in it...but I never see any of them.

Has anybody else seen pics of my bike in the featured area?

does the site just not like me or what ?

Thanks alot Annie! Now I just spent 10 min of slow dial up time trying to refresh and get a glimps of your pictures. No luck!! I'll keep watching though.

Looking around in there makes me think that only pics in certain categories get into the Feature loop. I'm thinking either "Members Rides" or "Personal Albums" are the categories that get shown. Annie, I don't think you have pics in either of those categories. I'm just trouble shooting here, I could be wrong.

I was about to retort that I had BOTH items...but now i cannot see them from the photo page !

I DO have an 'album' created under the User CP area...called 'tallannie'....but it does not seem to be linked to the photo page. Can someone explain that?

I HAVE posted many pics up to 'member bikes' area when I upload photos on my personal photo page, but when I search the general photo page under "T"...I dont find any of mine !!!

well, THANK YOU Trapper for your hints.... I went in and found a NEW place you can create an album....and REuploaded everything there...and just saw one of my pics show up in FEatured Photos !!

Albums on the User CP page do not link over. You must go in thru the Photo main page under "my albums" ....

Finally.. !

Sorry I can't be of more help. I don't use the photo gallery much, and my previous investigation came up short. Hopefully Trap's solution works.
