From Newsday: NY motorcycle rider killed by falling branch May 12, 2008 GARRISON, N.Y. - A falling tree branch is being blamed by police for the death of a 60-year-old Connecticut man who was riding his motorcycle to have dinner with his mother and sister on Mother's Day. Putnam County Undersheriff Peter Convery says Eugene Wolfthall, of New Milford, was riding on Route 9 on Sunday when the large branch fell and hit him in the head as he passed the Garrison firehouse. The undersheriff says Wolfthall was killed instantly in the freak mishap, and his motorcycle continued riderless for a quarter of a mile. |
