In a small Texas town, a new bar/tavern started a building to open up their business. The local Baptist church started a campaign to block the bar from opening with petitions and prayers.

Work progressed, however right up till the week before opening, when a
lightning strike hit the bar and it burned to the ground.

The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, until the bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means. The church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the buildings demise in its reply to the court.

As the case made its way in to court, the judge looked over the paperwork. At the hearing he commented, 'I don't know how I'm going to decide this, but as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that does not.'

I've heard that one once before; it's still funny.

Thoughts for Today-
One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Thoughts for Today-
Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

"When we grew up and went to school, there were certain teachers who would hurt the children anyway they could
by pouring their derision upon anything we did
exposing any weakness however carefully hidden by the kids.

But in the town it was well known
When they got home at night their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!"

A portion of a really cool song from the movie that didn't make it onto the soundtrack (which is pressed in a different order than the movie, btw, fyi ) follows. For some reason, the last three lines read (and sound) so freaking heavy to me.

For those that aren't "in the know" on The Wall, one of the many things (probably the most painful) that shaped his life into a living hell was the fact that his father was killed defending the Anzio Bridgehead. This song frames his tragic childhood by noting how 'important' his father's loss was to the King, as opposed to how shattering it was for him. Anyway, the last three lines . . .

Quote:
And kind old King George
Sent Mother a note
When he heard that father was gone.

It was, I recall,
In the form of a scroll,
With gold leaf and all.

And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away.

And my eyes still grow damp to remember
His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp.
. . . with his own rubber stamp . . . the King gave a %%%% . . .

Oddly enough....one of my favorites.....

"When the Tigers Broke Free"

Which it appeared on the "Final Cut" album. Which many regard as a Post Script to "The Wall".

I love "The Final Cut". I find it to be an epilogue to the wall. Pink Floyd is not Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, IMHO

Quote:
And if I show you my dark side
Will you still hold me tonight?
And if I open my heart to you
And show you my weak side
What would you do?
Would you sell your story to Rolling Stone?
Would you take the children away
And leave me alone?
And smile in reassurance
As you whisper down the phone?
Would you send me packing?
Or would you take me home?

Thought I oughta bare my naked feelings,
Thought I oughta tear the curtain down.
I held the blade in trembling hands
Prepared to make it but just then the phone rang
I never had the nerve to make the final cut.

Your Possible Pasts....

"she stood in the doorway the ghost of a smile
haunting her face like a cheap hotel sign
her cold eyes imploring the men in their macs
for the gold in their bags or the knives in their backs
stepping up boldly one put out his hand
he said, "i was just a child then now i'm only a man"
do you remember me? how we used to be?
do you thing we should be closer? "

BTW Trap....didn't you catch when I ran "Not Now John" in my sig a few weeks back?

[landry breathes a sigh of relief that he's not the only one weird enough to delve into "The Wall" with a fanatical zest]
