So, I'm off for an extended weekend.

Nope, no holiday here, but I'm off for a short vacation from Monday thru Wednesday. My fiancée and I are going to Munich to do some shopping and visit friends. And barbecue. And drink lots of red wine.

No...

Them sonsabizzitches o'er there use BBQ as a verb.

They'll soak a nice Ribeye in a gallon of teriyaki overnight. Crank the grill up to full blast, throw the steaks on, leave the top open, grab a beer, and push the steaks all over the damn grill until the outside is black and the inside is bleeding, and call it barbecue

You'd be surprised at the sheer number of the unwashed masses that participate in that ritual.

After boiling......a quick dunk in the Worcestershire Sauce tank.....and either a trip to the indoor oven, or condemnation on a gas or charcoal grill....over charcoal, that's been lit with starter fluid, or is the self starting kind. (Friendly tip....friends don't let friends grill with charcoal that's been ignited with accelerators....except paraffin wax starter blocks or fire gel) Fluid...or presoaked briquettes are nasty...and they impart their nastiness into the food they cook.

Actually, we bought a "charcoal chimney" for about $10. It's about 8" in diameter and about a foot high. You fill it with charcoal, then stuff newspaper in the bottom part, and light it. The heat of the burning newspaper rises (using the "chimney effect") and heats the charcoals. Within about 10 minutes, the charcoal is hot and can be poured out and spread across the grill.

I've got two BBQs on my balcony. One high-tech gas grill with side-burners, and a good old fashioned cancer-causing charcoal grill.

We usually use the charcoal grill because it simply tastes better...

Jim...I wasn't hackin' on you, or anyone that uses charcoal...it's just...there is a segment of society that does those things....It's a travesty what those folks do to perfectly good food.

My wife gave me a Weber Gold as a "joke" for Father's Day a few years ago.

My gas grill doesn't get used anymore.

A head cold.. don't know where I got it. Some guy sneezed right in my sister's face when she was in the store, then turned around and grinned at her. So I think that's where I got it. Yeah, it's catchy. I'm glad I can't give it to anyone over internet...
I do feel better than I did yesterday though. I think.
