Nah. I've been there while doing some cooking but I'm not a part of the team.

I know you're a huge BBQ guy too, so you'd appreciate this competition.

I'm hungry, gonna go eat BBQ for lunch. Us Texans can cook it too.
But that Memphis style is soooo good.

I am....and do.

It's like the Superbowl of BBQ competitions. We've got a local competition that is a qualifier for M.I.M. I've been kicking around doing it, and have developed some special rubs for competition. But the grind of a competition (no sleep, etc.) is tough for some folks. Unfortunately, I'm the only one in my circle who has a passion for it. So it'd be a team of one overnight. That'd suck...but it's what I do anyway when I'm contracted to cook for someone.

Memphis is the best pork BBQ. (except for Ribs IMHO)
Texas is the best beef BBQ.
Kansas / NC have some good BBQ too.

I forgot you were involved with that. I'd almost be so bold as to ask to volunteer to work the team if they'd take me. To me that'd be fun.

If you like Jimmy Buffet* and won't mind traveling for the competitions, I can put in a good word for you to my pops if you want.

*Their team name is PARROTHEAD PORKERS OF HOGARITAVILLE.

That'd be right up my alley, but I'd save the recommendation until I actually get up there...

Oh, I thought in your prior post that you wanted that... I'm sorry I must have misunderstood.

I was signing off on a quote for a small gathering while we were going back and forth about BBQ this morning. Damn...pricing has gone up. This gig I was pricing is soooo small, that I'm thinking of buying extra Butts and pre-selling to other folks to make it even worth my time.

Thunderstorms and rain are predicted through the weekend ...

Woohoo! A chance to clean the bike without feeling like I *should* be riding!

Pretty good for my second observed run, the Senior assesor told me than when folk sign up, they usually have 3 or 4 runs as a grade D and take 2 or 3 runs each to go up the grades. I did well, after my first run I was graded 'C' across the board, and to be hitting 'B's and even some 'A's after the second run is pretty much unheard of.

I reckon it's down to the fact that ride all year round in all weathers, so I don't have to "re-learn" certain things every Spring and wet weather riding really hones your controlling skills.

I am actually feeling quite smug

I miss fishing, haven't been in awhile.

[yawns and stretches]

Good morning.... rainy again. I hope it clears up by the time work is over so I can go downtown to enjoy my BBQ.

Mmmm, free BBQ and all the booze I can drink... yep good thing I won't be driving.

Every time I see a piece about that event on T.V., it's cold, windy, and rainy.

Does it ever have nice weather?
