What, you've got a Yamaha V-Max engine on your boat, and you ride a Kawa? Wassup with that?

If gas gets as high as they say im likely to quit my job and stay home, literally wont be able to afford the gas to get to work-I think alot of people will end up jobless because they wont be able to afford the gas to get to work-its so sad the way the economy is going

Isn't it amazing how quickly everything has turned sour because of the high fuel prices? Just a few years ago, gas was below a dollar. I just can't wrap my pea-sized brain around all the economics of it but it sure seems like we are getting the wool pulled over our eyes. The excuses started out weather related and just escalated and multiplied from there.

Maybe by then the government will override the environmentalists and we can build new refinerys and drill for our own oil in ANWR and off the coasts of Florida and California while we perfect gassified coal and other alternatives...
Yepper,,, take the hancuffs off of American industry and entrepreneurs then you'll see American know-how, technology and ingenuity solve this problem in short order. But alas I wont hold my breath for that to happen, unfortunately it seems that the tree huggers and berry eaters have to much influence in DC

Yep. Absolutely right. And when all the "trees and berries" are gone, you can eat coal.

I hit my breaking point at $3.00. I drive to work and even though I have a 5 hour gap in the middle of my day I can't afford to go home. I wouldn't dream of breaking the speed limit or even accelerating hard. I can't wait to get back home to my ninja. And I for sure will be finding a place withing walking or peddling distance to what ever crap job I can muster.

My daughter had a fit the other night cuz I won't allow her to drive, she is 16. She is very responsible and I am not too worried about her doing something stupid but I had to explain that gas is just too high to consider driving for pleasure at this time. We live on a bus line and an all you can ride pass is $33/mo. We have four bikes in the garage and 2 gazillion pairs of shoes in the hall closet. It's tough, she cannot relate to the cost of owning and driving a vehicle everyday.

We talked today about gas going to $3.69 and she didnt even bat an eye. "I can afford that" This is where Vinnie laughed hysterically.

I am adjusting my lifestyle a bit. Not taking the long route home anymore, adjusting my processor for max fuel mileage, taking anti-crowitis pills, sitting on the bike and making vrrrrrooooommm sounds, etc....

$4.35 for diesel here today. If only I had a crystal ball a few years back. Me and my wife would both be riding around in clown cars right now. I dig the Mini Cooper!

Diesel is $7.71 a gallon here right now, and the tendency is, as expected, going higher...

The Mini Cooper is a fun car to drive and from what I read very safe for a compact car.

Petrol $10.00 and Diesel $11.00, and the chancellor is still mis-spending his easily won windfall!

Nah, you've got it backwards. The oil companies don't want any more refineries built because that's the bottleneck in dealing with crude oil. Refinery shortage=reduced supply=higher prices for stockholders.

But you're right, the handcuffs have been taken off industry. The price of oil is getting so high, it's making sense to explore other ways to move around -- high speed trains, nuclear cars, ethanol from cellulose. C'mon, let's see some real ingenuity.
