| He's part of the reason I have a motorcycle right now. Not so much because it has a lower carbon footprint, it's because I have a diesel pickup that takes $140 at each fill up. He's part of the reason gas and diesel is so high and everything else follows. He gives big oil a good reason to raise prices. Now, if he would just quit flying all over the place burning hundreds of gallons of jet fuel, and sell some of his mansions since it's just him and Tipper living in them, we might be able to save a little something, something.

| I'll assume this thread is a commentary on Michigan's weather and not a political one. For now. BTW, global warming means the average temperature of the Earth rises, and that carries with it a number of implications for local weather phenomena. Look it up.

| Vinnie recalls his high school years when the big concern was global cooling. Would all you smart guys make up your friggin minds!!!!! Now that we have ethanol production we won't have to worry about drilling for oil. Our only concern will be the cost of rice, corn, etc... No big deal, we can do without staple foods. Good way to control the earths population IMO.

| I read an article recently that sd. global warming and global cooling has cycles, is natural, has been going on millions of years, and we just happen to be in the warming one right now. Who knows, maybe...

| Muscle Biker ![]() | If global warming means more of the weather we're having right now, then BRING IT ON, BABY! Woohoo! It's in the mid-70's, and there is no rain in the forecast for at least a week! Woohoo!

They get the measurements in various ways, one being ice cores that go back thousands of years. So, you see the data plotted on a graph and, like global climate changes, it is a squiggly line that goes up and down over a fairly narrow range for THOUSANDS of years...........until about 1920 or so when it starts to creep above the 10,000 year maximum and just keeps right on going UP. And still is going UP. And is something like 10X the average over the past few thousand years. So children, you can choose to wear blinders if you want but you can't claim any credibility if you try to ignore the change in CO2. It IS there. It DOES have demonstrable effects. You can screw around and argue about the cause but, in the end, that doesn't make any difference. The important thing is doing something about it. OTOH, the bottom line is that man, like all other species, will at some point in history become self-limiting. In the past it's been wars and disease. We've solved both those problems in large parts of the world so now nature needs some other means to limit the human parasites. Maybe a global hot-house is the ultimate answer. The plants will take over the earth once again.
