Yeah, it was pretty weak! My money would be on Duno though if it came down to it!

Well I was almost sent back to the hospital the day I was released... some guy came flying around the curve as we were coming home, over the yellow line on our side. And he didn't even slow down or move over.

this reminds me of a story, a few years back if you will (grabs brandy snifter, pours some wine into it and a couple of ice cubes and collects his thoughts)

oh, well, maybe I'll relate that story some other time.

glad your back moto.

shortly after I bought my cb750 (think early Clinton administration) I was driving home, and sure enough coming around the bend from the other way was a car.

No real big problem until I noticed he was taking the corner wide and smack into my lane.

For reasons I have never understood other than my faith in the almighty, I managed to sneak past the oncoming car by placing my tire on the white stripe on the edge of the road. I then proceeded to negotiate the ensuing curve, somehow.

Shortly after I realized that I was still ALIVE, and hadn't soiled myself, the following events occurred.
1) I stopped the bike
2) I turned the bike around
3) I proceeded to interdict said cager at Maximum acceleration - which is interesting because
4) there was a small town nearby - whose speed limit I completely neglected, just too angry

After managing to catch up with said cager, he pulls over and I'm about ready to, well, to do something most unpleasant.

At this point, I notice he has a little girl, without a child seat next to him.

That little girl is the only thing that kept me from hurting him, as it wouldn't be right.

Well that, and the cager was apologetic about his actions.

At that point, I realized this was going to be the drill and you can either live with those odds or not.

Additionally, I also realized, had I been in a car, there would have been no way to avoid him and the combined speed of impact would be over 100 mph.

Ever since, things don't tend to get me worked up as they used to.

That is one time where being on a bike might have saved your life.

however, had I been in a cage, the dumb*ss would've seen me coming.

so a bit of this, a bit of that.

and then there was the close call sawing down a tree one time, not to mention the close call baling hay on a steep incline.

oh yeah, I've got a couple of stories for you. But they're non motorcycle related, so we'll save those for another thread, on another day.

I never really expected to live past 35, w/ the things I have done, I've had so many close calls it's not even funny. My card just hasn't come up yet, and apparently yours hasn't either.

Back on topic, this morning I had a truck pull right out in front of me, w/ the lights on bright, (still dark when I go to work) and w/ NOBODY behind me, he proceeds to drive 25 mph in a 50 mph zone. I followed him awhile to see if he is just a slow starter, but he's not, still pedaling along at 25. A quick flick of my right wrist and he dissapears in my mirror. So we get into town, the speed limit drops to 35, and this dude goes by me at 50. wtf?? I guess he completed his cell phone call.

I hate it when that happens, and it happens often enough. They could just wait those few extra seconds, they sure aren't in a hurry to get anywhere but in front of you and me.

Going down the street at 40 mph in a 45 zone, I come up to a business w/ a car stopped in the driveway waiting on traffic. I slow down trying to make sure the driver sees me, she does, and just as we make eye contact, and I feel like she knows I am there, she pulls out. I swerved to the left, she hits the brakes, and just barely misses me.

Had there not been room to my left, I surely would have hit her. I am sure had there been a vehicle behind me, they would not have had time to hit the brakes, and more than likely hit her as well. I would have normally moved over to the left lane to give me more escape options, but was planning on a turn just past that business.

I did not have my blinker on yet either, I never turn it on if a car is between me and my turn, they assume you are turning before them and not after, and usually pull out.

it's amazing how people can miss you when LOOKING RIGHT AT YOU.

Yeah, it's happened to me.
