No fire there. You just can't do that stuff anymore without fear of being arrested. Fire codes and the like. I've bashed and smashed a couple of guitars though. That one in the picture has been flogged pretty hard. I've had that guitar since '91. She needs new frets BAD. So do several of my axes. I use pretty heavy strings, so the maintenance that goes with them is quite a lot.

Once all of my gear gets delivered here in Texas, I'll be making the pilgrimage up to Austin to get about three or four guitars/basses refretted. There is a real good luthier up there that has worked on my stuff before.

nut, do you enjoy acoustic? if so, there is a song on System of A Down's Steal This Album CD called Roulette. its just the lead singer serj and the guitarist daron. its a great sad song and with a nice acoustic rythym thing. if you got 10 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, i recommend buying it or buying toxicity by the same band.

its not...NEW music, they been around since 97 as soad, long before when they were called soil with a diff drummer. but its mostly hardcore armenian music. all of them have roots in armenia. if you know some stuff about them, you would know that they kinda dont like america, but thier music is great. i just overlook thier ideas.

Uh, '97 is new dude. As for not liking America, F**K THEM. THE UNITED STATES RULES!

Talking about biting the hand that feeds you. Also, Armenia isn't what I would call paradise.

I can't believe you guys have never heard of gary moore! i had this conversation with a colleague yesterday who had never heard of him as well, did you never listen to thin lizzy or skid row.
It was gary moore who inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place! oh and santana as well but he goes without saying.

Phease,

They have NO idea who the REAL Skid Row is over here. They think Skid Row is that pop-metal band w/Sebastian Bach as the front man.

The Average American thinks that Thin Lizzy had two records, Jailbreak and Alive and Dangerous. They have no idea that Johnny the Fox, Black Rose, Chinatown etc. even existed.

I think Europeans are much more in tune with that music scene, especially in the UK. I just bought hte GM DVD from the Monsters of Rock last year. Pretty sweet. I never thought I would see him playing Wishing Well again!

Heh, heh -- They said "System of a Down" and "music" in the same sentence.

Well he was meant to be playing at the fender 50th anniversary at wembley next week but has had to drop out, otherwise i would have been seeing him play classics like wishing well, and still got the blues for you again!!
Oh well will have to wait for the next tour.

He had to cancel a bunch of shows. I think he injured his hand or something. He very rarely comes to the US anymore. I saw him in Berlin in '92.

Cool, bet it was good in germany, they like their music (david hasselhoff aside).
I saw him in liverpool in '98 was an excellent gig.

A damaged hand would certainly hamper his performance somewhat, no wonder he cancelled then.

No. I can't stand that group. I can't think of the song that made it to the radio, but I hate it.

To each his own. You probably hate Steely Dan, huh? I love 'em.

i love older music, stones, floyd, all that stuff. but i dunno who steely dan is or even if he is from that genre. and there are 6 songs that made radio. sugar, spiders, Chop suey, toxicity, aerials, boom. first 2 of self titled, next 3 are from toxicity, and last if from steal this album. why dont you like them? listen to the lyrics. its poetry. plus they are the perfect balance between hardcore rock and softrock

I downloaded that acoustic song you mentioned . <-- Hey it's legal in Canada. And had I like it I might have bought it. (yeah right) Didn't much care for it. I'm not a big lyric guy , I'm more for the melody and it was kind of droaning (don't know if that is a word). I guess that makes you (soad) more poetic and me more musical. I don't know.
I do know that this post #100

hey landry, thats 2 songs that you mentioned. the first part where its fast is chop suey and hte second one is toxicity.yes, i am a music lover and i enjoy all kinds of rock. poetry not so much, but i like the fact that soad isnt just talking about cars money and b*tches like in rap or how they miss a girl so bad like in punk music and i can actually understand them too. not like slipknot.

I like both old and newer music also. It's called expanding your horizons fellas. Y'know, like the peace and love movement of the 60's.

But, I'm willing to bet that soad has never heard of Queensryche or Dream Theater. Or that Van Halen's original name was Mammoth, until the drummer suggested using to brothers' last name since they were drawing the wrong crowd they were going for.
