Default Toy Run

Well, gang, I'm gonna do it. I've had my bike two weeks now and nearly 400 miles under my belt and I'm going to ride in the Toy Run tomorrow. They are expecting 10,000 bikes! Holy cow, that's awesome. The ride is about 20 miles this year. I'm psyched!

Thanks! I have to admit, I stole it. Somebody posted it on the SuzukiSavage.com forum and I just couldn't help myself.

And now...back to the topic of the thread...

The toy run was absolutely the most exciting thing for me! Wow! There were more bikes in one spot than I've ever seen in my whole life combined!

I saw three other Savages, which was exciting for me.

This was the grandpappy of all group rides. With toys strapped to their bikes and/or bodies in all kinds of way, 10000+ riders took off in orderly fashion and rode just over 14 miles through town to the fairgrounds where the toys were collected by the Salvation Army. The processional was led by Santa on a trike.

This had more bikes and more variety than the bike show I went to last summer. Of course, out of 10k bikes, 8.5 were Harleys and, out of probably 14-16 thousand riders, there were maybe 1500 helmets. That was too bad. I was wearing mine...and my leather jacket, and my reinforced jeans, and my boots and my gloves. Other than kids riding with their parents, I may have been the only one in full gear.

I was glad, though, that I had a full-face helmet, cuz I was grinning like an idiot the whole way!
