Default Damn you scotty! :P

I was at the Kroger the other night and saw a 2008 Busa sitting outside. I just had to go admire it. I'm seriously considering getting a Busa instead of the M109R2 I was considering.... Whatever I get, it's still about 9 months to a year away but I'm still trying to make up my mind.

The only drawback is the insurance difference. The insurance on a Busa would be 100000000000000000000000000x more than what it would be on the M109R2, right?

Damn, that busa looked so sexy though, I almost drooled.

All I can say is this..

First the M109 is such a sweet bike. If I where to get a cruiser that would be the bike for me. And yes, the insurance will be considerably less on the M109 vs the Busa but its not too high if you go through your local INS that you have already multiple cars on.

Second.. Out of all the decisions I've ever made in my life getting the busa was one of my better ones. The ride, speed, feel (though heavier) was an awesome experience. Now I wouldn't go crazy on knee dragging with this bike but for sheer power and handling its the best IMMHO..

Its comfortable to, and the 08's are SA-WEET!! I love the whole look of the thing. Especially the orange and black one. The theme's of body art I could come up with for that thing are endless. PLUS!! there's a tone of after market stuff to put on it.

So theres my unofficial write up on the busa and M109. Both get a huge 's up from the Scottster, The Scottoreno, The Scottyman, The Scott Master Flav, The Triple X Scott..

ok you get the point

I actually don't think that the insurance would be *that* much more expensive. Them M109 has a huge displacement, so the 'busa actually has a *smaller* engine (it's only a 1400).

Yes but since it's a sport bike it'll be more.

Yeah, the blue one is nice, I just love the contrast of the orange and black, it really stands out ( safety!!! ).

Actually, it depends on the insurance company. State Farm didn't care what type of bike it was. They only asked for the engine size. When I told her it was a sport bike, she said that it didn't matter because they are rated by engine size. I know, weird, but I swear it's the truth.

Perfect color. I love it. I might be biased tho, I like KTM's. But, I wouldn't let a little highrer insurance bother me, get what you want. I vote Busa.

Each company seems to be different. When I was shopping for insurance for my Bee, I nearly croaked at the prices. When I asked the reason for the price being three times what my Glide was, I was told because it had a 'Busa engine.

So, as it turns out, the glide with a greater displacement was massively cheaper than the Bee. I even went so far as to talk to the actuarial dept. to argue that the Bee was NOT a sportbike. They said that they were rating it as one as they had no experience with it so they were going to assume it was a Hayabusa because of the engine.

Progressive wanted $3600 a year!!!!! A couple of others were around $3000. Finally, Geico, came up with the best rate at around $2200!!

Can you imagine that at age 52, recent MSF, no accidents (well not in the last 30yrs anyway) and no tickets???

The moral of the story is that the actuaries tend to use statistics on accident rates and bike class more than just raw engine displacement. Even if you just smell like a large sportbike they are going to cream you.

That being said, getting it added onto existing auto policies seems to save a lot of money. I wasn't able to do this so I have had to eat this lousy insurance rate for at least this year (Geico said they would re-rate it after they have a year of experience with the Bee).

Oh yeah, I have to agree on getting what you want. I love the 'Busas but I'm too old to support my weight on my wrists and testicles. But they are great bikes and one of Suzuki's very best pieces of engineering.

I've ridden on a few super sports and I can honestly say that I've never once ridden on my testicles... maybe I am using the wrong technique.

Really long trips on the busa is not advisable. I did 6 hrs on one riding all day and take few breaks.. took me a while to recover.

Incidentally the color you have on that pic is the exact same one I want. So nice.

What riles me to no end is that you go out, get the bike of your dreams and then some how over time you get the scratches.

I rant about this because I am ticky about my bike. I just got it out the shop for its 10K inspection. While there she managed to get a nice scratch on the front fender. Noticeable to, but I cant go and complain to the guy who serviced the bike because I have no proof he did it. SO now I am stuck with doing some touch up paint on the bike.

You get the bike of your dreams be prepared to lament over the little things..lol

Oh, when I priced the insurance for that bike through GIECO it was nearly 2k a year. I asked why it was so high and the girl on the phone actually told me that the life expectancy for that bike averages out to be 3 weeks before you crash and die.. so thats what she said.. who am i to argue.. I've had mine nearly a year so Im over due to die..
