Actually, Missouri's "shall issue" CCW law is only a few years old and permits were not actually being issued in St.Louis county until about a year ago. The two major cities in Missouri, St. Louis and Kansas City were the last in Missouri to comply with the "shall issue" CCW law.

If St. louis follows the national trend, within a few years of "citizen resistance" to crime, I expect the violent crime rate to begin to fall there. Criminals hate it when their "victims" can shoot back.

I don't want to sound any more preachy than I usually do but you might consider your previous experience good luck. It reminds me of the patient lying in bed in the "Cardiac Critical Care Unit" saying, "Doc, I just don't understand it, I never had heart attack before!"

I think you have been very fortunate during your time in Chicago. I hope your good fortune continues and you NEVER have to use a gun in self-defense. IMHO, you are a wise man in gaining your permit and preparing to purchase a firearm. Treated carefully, they can be an enjoyable form of recreation.

And they can save your life!

Inspiron, unfortunately my country (the good ole USA) is so dyed in the wool about individuals rights to gun ownership, rules, regulations and penalties aren't going to change things much.

Literally, the best we can do now, is to allowed concealed carry.

Because, when all is said and done, our police in the metropolitan areas usually aren't allowed shotguns, rifles and such, and get outgunned by the serious criminal element.

Well doggonnit we should just vote to make it illegal for criminals to own guns. Problem solved, y'all can sleep easy now.

Not a bad idea Vinnie. Then we can set up a checkpoint and arrest all the criminals when they show up to vote.

With gun ownership comes responsibility. If people aren't willing to act responsibly when carrying a weapon, they do not deserve the right.

All you need is to present your utility bill. What are they gonna send them a letter stating their vote has been rejected? Heck, even illegal aliens vote these days. We had an illegal here in MN, hit a school bus and killed a couple of kids. Fake DL.

We had a case of road rage this morning, dude shot another drivers window out w/ a shotgun. Good people go thru life expecting not to have bad things happen, they expect others to live as they do, and get lulled into a false sense of security. It can happen to anybody, anytime, anywhere. It's up to you to make the choice if you want to be able to defend yourself or not.

The Luby's massacre in TX opened my eyes to what can happen. I was pulling out of the parking lot, as he was pulling in. Many defensless people were murdered that day.

There are idiots everywhere who have no respect for anybody including themselves and I don't think there is any way to stop them no matter what laws are out in place. If they have a disregard for other peoples lives and possesions they won't have any respect for any laws put in place. Remember its me first, and I don't care who I have to hurt to get mine. Even if it is only the next spot up in a traffic jam. That is the attitude all of these people have.

I say forget the Death Penalty and lets send them all to the North Pole with nothing but a Walmart sweater. Now how do we round them all up?
