I am somewhat amazed and bewildered that bikerbabe has posted what she has.

She's from frickin' beloit!

No misunderstanding, bikerbabe, unfortunately your assessment is too often the case. But these kinds of problems in Beloit? Next you'll tell me there are gang problems in Utah!

B-Rex, aren't you concerned that one or more of those 4 gang members might also be packing a 9mm ?

A little late but these same rumors have been going on for 15 years. Just thinking it may be that every once in a while somebody gets tangled up with a jack ass in a gang and something bad happens. Imagine that. In other words if a gang member wants to start trouble with you they are going to do it.

I use my little bit of common sense and the huge sense of self-preservation to avoid such situations...

I'm 43 years old, so I must be doing something right.

What happens after that you never know, they could just kill you,or beat you, or just throw you out of the car and steal the car.) Be safe and whenever you get into an accident from behind(if you have a cell phone)call the cops or just stay in the car until hopefully a cop comes.
when the first person gets out of their car show them that you have brought 10 friends with you also. 9 in the clip and one in the hole.

I got car jacked back a few years ago.. well not so much jacked but the dude managed to jump in and steal some things off of me at gun point.

Keep your doors locked!
Get a good look around you and see if there's any options open including running through the median if need be and you won't get stuck...

if you don't like the idea of keeping a gun on you then your car makes a perfect battering ram. Don't worry over the dents your going to inflict. Thats why you have insurance and your life is worth more than a car with a few new dents.

I saw a guy once get out of his truck to confront another man behind him. This was at a red light. Apparently the got into some sign language war and start throwing birds back and forth. The guy who got out of his truck ran back to the other guys car and started beating on his window, cussing and screaming.
The poor guy was scared to death.. I was right behind them both. The light changes but we can't go because these two idiots are trying to fight it out.
I blew the horn to get this little confrontation over with and when I did the raging guy looks at me, flips me off and goes back to cussing.

Needless to say I gave him the same gesture and was about go around them. He see's my finger and was about to come beat on my window.. HELL NO!!

I turn the steering wheel back toward him and goosed the truck in his direction. He skids to a stop knowing I was about to pin him to the back of the other guys car. I came within inches.... it scared him enough that when he got up I told him if he comes at me.. he will have tire prints for a new t-shirt. He got back in his truck and we all left.

People are stupid.. and you can either walk around as a victim in life or you can become more alert and take control of the situation.

Pepper spray
Tasers
Guns
a baseball bat..

whatever it takes to keep you from being said victim.. I know some people do not agree with my stand on this but i don't care. Its my life to protect however I see fit..

As I've said before ... I prefer to live somewhere where it isn't necessary to be armed, rather than to worry about it.

Of course. But I have a much better chance of surviving if I'm armed. I don't believe in being a "victim". IMHO, each person is responsible for their own self-defense. Those who "wait" for the cops become statistics.

Just as an aside, criminals are cowards. The last thing they expect when they come at you is an effective defense. In most of the situations I've been in, just my willingness to fight back saved my butt. Only had to draw a firearm a few times in 52 years. It's not something I do casually or to be cool. It only comes out when I'm ready to use it in a life-or-death situation.

It's much better to have it and not need it than to not have it and.......

(Oh, and for the record, I carry either a Glock .40 cal or Sig .45....9mm are for girls

Reminds me of that scene from Crocodile Dundee ...

And, BTW Scotty....I totally agree with you (as you can see). And it's not being macho or aggressive. We live in a country with over 380 BILLION people (there's that "billion" word again). As such, just from the raw statistics, we have way more illegally armed criminals than any country in Europe!

Inspiron, correct me if I am wrong...but aren't your current, ex and retired military males still armed with 9mm submachineguns in their homes? Plus, last time I checked, it was still possible to get a pistol permit for an upstanding and verified citizen there. Has that changed?

It was a joke.....kind of like the Crocodile Dundee thing. 9mm works just fine (especially with Hydra-Shoks or the newer "self-defense" ammos). But I figure I'm kind of cheap and don't want to have to waste a second round. BTW, my GF has a 9mm here too.
