He pulled the front forks off yesterday to have them rebuilt, YEP !! You guessed it.............Their bent. We didn't notice it when we bought the bike but once you get them off, MAN !!!!!!!!!!! it shows up like the McDonalds Arches.

Tuesday we are going to call the local Bike Bone Yard and see if we can locate a good set that can be rebuilt.

Whis Us Luck..................................

Good luck for finding some. If not to badly bent you could get them rolled straight.

before going too terribly far, everything else on the bike pretty much checks out, right?

Not that this becomes a grocery list of things to repair.

Although, teaching your son to work on the bike before he gets to drive will make him appreciate what it takes to get a bike running. And keep it running.

After I found out they were bent, I called a mechanic and he said to look at the triple trees and the neck and check for any stress cracks or unusual wear.

I'm trying to find out if a set of forks for something else will fit that will give him an upgrade, something that will be a direct bolt on triple trees, forks, and maybe dual front disc brakes.

a single disc brake should be enough to stop it; it's a fairly small bike after all.

if the forks are only slightly bent (I will assume that they are since you didn't notice it when you bought it) chances are the triple tree will be fine.

Besides, how long do you think the kid will want to drive this before getting something else?
