Default Dad died...

My dad passed away last week... he was 88 and died of natural causes..a small stroke perhaps. Frank and I were on a short driving trip when we got the news so it turned into a long trip and a week off work.

He was buried next to his dad down near Palm Springs...and the local honor guard showed up and gave him a rifle salute since he was a WWII vet.

He had been praying to die for some time.... he was ready....we all expected it.....still it has upset me more than I thought. I love him and didnt get to say goodbye... . In his last years he went blind and turned into a born-again and even-worse-than-he-used-to-be judgemental old coot. It left his kids not wanting to be around him much..... and now I very much feel the error of that path.

Go hug your parents while you can....

Sorry for your loss Annie. My Dad died a couple of years ago. Similar situation (heart failure). He hung on for a few months but by the time I got there I'm not sure if he knew I was there or not. I feel for you. The one thing I could take with me is I knew he wanted to go. He had always told me if he had to be taken care of he would rather pass.

Condolences, Annie.

I know that "that" call is coming soon ... I still hope that it's later rather than sooner. That's also why my sister and I flew down to spend the President's Day weekend with our dad...
