Yeah, this is definitely the type of thing that will be dangerous for eye brows at the very least.

[Edit] I just remembered that I have to go to Vegas Monday for an engineering show. I bet they don't want me to show up all singed.

Famous last words often do contain the phrase "hold my beer."

or "hey guys watch this." put that on the tombstone.

which reminds me, I read part of an article in Popular Mechanics a few years back about an "emp" bomb.

Essentially, with a couple of car batteries, a couple of big capacitors and a few other off the shelf parts, you could create an electro magnetic pulse that could trip the substation down the street.

Now that's actually a little disturbing.

the exact preface was why the terrorists hadn't thought of doing this.

Because if you financially want to mess with the u.s., just trip the "bomb" there really isn't an explosion, right on wall st.

Shut down wall st. and all their computers; computers would be especially vulnerable.

After wall st. is up again, hit it again. Or the chicago board of trade.

or dc, or downtown wherever.

it was on the stinkin cover.

the big downside of this concept is retribution; we could quite easily make things "uncomfortable" for other rogue countries using the exact same technology. Last time I checked, nearly everybody has a grid and as such, you are vulnerable.

btw, the eletro magnetic pulse was first measured with the detonation of atomic bombs, but by no means requires a nuclear weapon to create the effect.

Electromagnetic bomb - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I like the part where it says the effects are "usually not noticeable beyond the blast radius."

usually.
