Default Farve Retires Read this One

Favre tells Packers he's retiring. State of Wisconsin on Suicide Watch!

ESPN.com news services

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that according to Mayor, James J. Schmitt, Favre informed Packers coach Mike McCarthy of his decision Monday night.
The State of Wisconsin has been put on “Suicide Watch” as there has been a run on the drug stores and pawn shops. Some people have been crossing state lines in an attempt to beat the lines. The Mayor of Green Bay, James J. Schmitt has said that they are asking for Green Bay to be declared a National Disaster Area and he has enlisted the help of the State Troopers to keep residents of Wisconsin from crossing the state lines. He has also closed all stores that sell anything that can aid in the attempt to take your own life. Mayor Schmitt has said “Green Bay will be effectively closed until we can get some Federal help with this problem.” Peter Griffin was quoted as saying “the lines at the pawn shop were longer than the lines at a Piggly Wiggly in Texas when the lottery is over $50 million dollars.”

President Bush said he is considering the request but as this point he is not sure is he can spare the resources. He was quoted as saying “Its only Green Bay and nobody in Texas likes them anyway. This will just make it easier for the Cowboys to win in the playoffs next year so I doubt we will do anything to help Green Bay. Besides I like the Piggly Wiggly. Is Green Bay even in the United States?”

rodgers will end up hurt in the 3rd pre-season game; I'm calling it.

as far as Dallas, yes, Brett had a tremedous impact on their playoffs.

oops, they lost to the Giants, and it didn't matter.

that's not exactly true; the liquor stores are still open and happy hour is still the order of the day at the local pub.

all both of them?

remember, Tom Brady is still in the league and what's his dingle from st. louis, Warner is still bouncing around. Between the both of them nearly 10 superbowls.

Favre, it's the records; consecutive starts (in packerdom a record previously held by an offensive lineman, Forest Greg, passing records, touchdown records, so on and so forth).

and even after all that, I read in Favre's book (i imagine there will be another one) "for the record" Favre would just as soon trade in all those records for another ring.

If you watched him play this last year, you know he would.

Brett just wants to do what any of us wants to do; do a job and do it well.

That's his universal appeal.

you're acting like he got traded to the Vikings or something.

I mentioned this to a coworker, Bears fan, and said "just watch, Holmgren will resign as gm of the Seahawks and Favre will come out of retirement and they'll both be at the Chiefs in a couple of years."

Failing that, some amateur league in S. Miss will sign him up as their "ringer" in a fall league that runs 8 - 10 weeks.

oh yeah, we got an old codger who played some ball in the league as our qb.

I can see it now.

when are they going to get it together and have an NFL "old timer's league" it could be ppv and they'd rake in the cash.

Run it for 4 - 6 weeks right about now.

They could play the Old Timers game before the Pro Bowl. It may be more entertaining. On second thought maybe the Old Timers could play the Lingere Bowl winners. Remember that a couple of years back.
