HAPPY B-DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just glad someone noticed my little age joke. I did that several months ago. I was hoping it'd get used.

Save your cash, friend. You owe me nothing. Hell there's people out there that owe me plenty that don't even bother, so your gift to me can be to keep your money and spend it wisely. Deal?

Thanks (also in advance) to everyone for the nice (and not so nice) comments.

38. Ouch. A good-lookin' %%%%ing 38, but that doesn't ease the sting very much.

I stopped enjoying birthdays at 31. I was actually depressed for a couple of days when I turned 31.

30? No problem, just another number.

31? %%%% . . . me . . . running. I'm now marching down the path of doom.

Now, at 38, I could care less what age I am. {note: just scratched my nostril and a booger fell into the keyboard . . . awesome . . . it fell just to the left of the <insert> and <delete> keys. i'm leaving it.}

This will be my first birthday without my mom. We'll see how it goes. So far, so good.

I realized something at my grandfather's funeral: Your number of "big days" in life . . . days that are truly yours to celebrate, are limited and you should celebrate your birthdays. You've got a couple of graduations (maybe 3 or 4, depending), you've got your 'coming of age' celebration (usually a birthday), your wedding, and your funeral. That's it. Not very many days if you ask me. So my point is that you should celebrate your birthdays in some fashion. Don't rent Van Halen (ala Jeff Spicoli in "Fast Times") for your party, but don't ignore it or blow it off entirely either. Buy yourself something other than a shirt. Celebrate your birthdays because your last big day is kinda' sad and you're not there to see it anyway.

Here's something that irks me (as far as my work is concerned): I keep a list of peoples' birthdays and I make it a point to examine said list weekly. I sort of enjoy sneaking up with a "Happy Birthday" for my coworkers and making them smile (even though I'd strangle 90% of them if I thought I could get away with it). There's just something about the event of someone you barely know remembering your birthday.

Anyway, since I do this I have been told that it is a "less than manly" (they actually used the word 'gay,' but I know a few gays that are more manly than the person I'm speaking of) thing to do. Whatever. Another interesting side effect seems to be that no one remembers MY birthday. It's not like I care, but you'd think someone, somewhere would make it a point to tell me happy birthday. Then to make matters worse, they'll expect me to go to lunch with them and a group of people and buy them lunch on their birthday. So, it's "gay" to remember your birthday, but you don't mind if I buy you a steak? Eh, like I said, I don't care, but I do think it's a little odd. FWIW, I don't buy anyone lunch on their birthday except for my friend Kelly.

She called me first thing this morning (she's out on maternity leave) and wished me a happy birthday. She informed me that we'll be going to lunch and she's buying. Toss in there that she's hot as a beer fart, and it just gets that much better!!

What does themeatmanlandry get himself for his birthday, you might ask?

An olympic weight set. That's right themeatman still cooks his steaks with a dinky 1" bar. FWIW, my bars are bent all to hell! So, I'm going to upgrade to olympic weights this year. I'll still curl with the inchers, and probably do the floor work with the inchers, but the bench and squat is starting to bend the bars. God I love typing that.

Anyway, I wrote a book. Happy Birthday to me.

On this day, the celebration of your 38th year of befouling this world with your mere existence, I declare you my nemesis. Thou shall perish at the hands of an evil genius (as soon as I find one).

Prepare yourself for eminent demise.

Oh yeh. Happy Birthday.

Landry...I'm concerned how you were able to get to this age without being mortally wounded, incarcerated or hung by the neck from a tree for rustling cattle and other less attractive livestock?

Happy birthday man...way to...age without severe incident

Well no worries Landry..

My b-day came this past month and little hoora was made about it and thats the way I like.. it squeaks in, slaps you on the back with a bigger number then what you already have then squeaks back out again and patiently waits a year to do it to you again.

My mom blessed me with a t-shirt from the dollar store and a pan of banana pudding..

And there you were earlier with what I thought were sandwich crumbs all down your shirt, when in reality it was birthday cake!

Happy 38th mate, hope you have a great day..
