Well I can now say that I am about to be back in the saddle again. Decided that it was time to get a new helmet. Since the Shoei RF-1000 did so well allowing me to slide to a stop without a concussion and my ears still attached to my head I decided they have earned my repeat business. But this time I have decided the new Anthracite color will go a little better with the Black leather jacket and the rest of my "Cruiser" attire. The half shell has been shelved for riding from this point forward. The only action it will see now is on the streets of Daytona and other walking speed events. If you don't believe in full face helmets take a look at a 25 to 30 mph crash where I impacted with my left shoulder first then my helmet. Then the rest came crashing down after that. I probably only had about three to five feet of pavement contact with my full face. See what that looks like on the older light silver helmet. Note how the rear spoiler was almost ground flat. If I had been wearing the half shell,, well,, let's just say I might not be sporting a left ear right now. For those who are not aware of what happened. In November I managed to trash a Rental Ultra Classic while doing "Everything" I was supposed to be doing. Hit a slick spot in the road and whoala. Screwed up helmet, broken collar bone, broke foot, and a screwed up knee later I am here showing you why I am spending the G's to buy another Shoei RF-1000. WEAR YOUR GEAR!!!! Only road rash I got was a spot on my knee and a few scrapes where my jacket slid up on my back. Quality jacket, gloves, boots, and a good helmet kept me from getting it alot worse. I think stickers will look just fine on my new helmet. Out with the old..... In with the new. |
