| Along with what everyone else is saying let's not forget that sometimes nothing can affect change in a person, they are what they are. Some people are just wired wrong. I would not be surprised to find out that these boys are of that strain. And no I'm not justifying their actions, they should pay for what they have done, to the fullest extent of the law.

| so this is how you get the post count growing. Yes, some people are wired wrong, nobody is perfect. But don't most people like the ones in question start off mutulating a cat or something, can't we identify them then and correct the problem? |

| Okay, well I guess we can stop beating this dead horse now. Everybody agrees that you should beat your kids and kill these punks. Next! Busa Boy needs to do a graphic for that, beating the horse that is. |

| Actually, I'm not so sure it's just desensitization. My kids play fairly violent video games, but they know the difference between a game and reality. These people have no empathy whatsoever for other human beings, or for animals probably for that matter. For someone to do that, there has to be something genetically wrong with them a la Jeffery Dahmer wrong. If we don't get them off the streets, Permanently, then think of what they'll move up to.

| First thing that should be done today, is to get rid of psychiatric councilors and psychaitrist doctors from our schools. Read this. Here is some more to read. |

| Muscle Biker ![]() | The question is, however, how to get them off the streets. Putting them in jail will just turn them into more vicious and spiteful criminals. When they are released, they will be more of a threat than they are now. Putting them into mental institutions is expensive, and probably won't help either. They need intensive behavior modification therapy, and this is not really possible in today's overcrowded and understaffed institutions. And the death penalty isn't a realistic option, as they haven't committed a capital offense. I don't have any suggestions, I just don't think that any of these options are really good...

I did Animal Control for over 15 years and yes there is a link between animal abuse and typically child abuse which I believe applies in this case as far as the victim is concerned. The point I'm trying to make is with trying to correct the problem, first off for the 2 boys that did this detestable act I believe it may be to late to change them, someone willing to commit such a heinous crime is usually not going to comprehend the need to change, much less have true remorse for there actions. They may claim to be sorry for what they have done but more likely then not they are sorry they were caught and now face punishment. Outside of growing up in an extremely horrific environment their environment only had a small part in how they came to the point where they were capable of this behavior. I’m more inclined to believe that for at least on of these boys they were just inclined to behave this way and there wasn’t much anyone could do to stop or change their propensity for violence. Not everyone can be changed to fit into a societal mold of behavior.
