garage sale? Here in Jackson (WI) the whole town has a garage sale, the Saturday before Mother's day.

That's the day I make sure I'm out of town.

My rant for today - interest rates.

One of my mortgages is "expiring" at the end of this year. It was a 5-year fixed rate mortgage, and I am paying 4.05% right now. About 2 months ago, I met with my banker and she showed me the current rates. I could have fixed the rate for another 3 years at about 3.9%, but I would have had to pay a "penalty" of about 0.2% because I fixed the rate so early. So I decided to wait until there was just 6 months to go, so I would pay less penalties.

I met with her again today. WTF? In the past 8 weeks, interest rates have gone UP by 0.75%! I've decided to extend the mortgage for 3 years, and will be paying 4.65% as of January. Thank you very %%%%ing much.

The subprime credit collapse depressed the US dollar, which caused oil prices to rise (so that the rich asshats in the Middle East still have money to spend supporting anti-US terrorists), making EVERYTHING more expensive, including raising interest rates. I am so NOT happy right now.

Suck it up!!

I'm getting 5.25% on a ten-year fixed rate mortgage, and I have an 800+ credit rating AND I'm putting $200K cash down.

yeah I wouldn't complain to much about that rate. My buddy told me his interest rate......12.3%. Somehow with his job (restoring classic cars) He could only get a adjustable first and a fixed second! This is on a 700K house.
I am still in shock over this and how he makes it all work.

At least you didn't buy back in the early 80's when the rates were the highest on record. My VISA card had lower interest rates, lol.

I am in the midst of renegotiation too. I saw a cool graph of the economy on the bankers desk last night. Prime Rate in 1983 - 21.5%

Anyway we're getting 5.49% fixed 5 year. The new bank will eat the legal fees and appraisal.

My banker called - she managed to get a rate of 4.60% for the 3 year fixed, from January 2009 thru December 2011. It's still costing me about $90 more per month than the current mortgage, though.

you just want cheap money forever, don't you?

and cheap dollars can only bump up the price of oil so much.

the rest is speculators.

My only rant today is it's raining, hard, so I couldn't ride the bike this morning.
It's also hailing a little. And windy. All the things you get w/ a super cell T-storm.

Probably all of the above.. however.. the truth.

It is just a gathering place for those that do not want to contribute to society, but would rather critcise anything/everything to justify thier leech like existence.

They are more than happy to live off the taxes of the working man.. and despite what you see, they don't actually live on the camp, they have been given lush council houses... at the taxpayers expense.

Despite all these facilities they still choose not to shower or clean thier clothes, and thier breath could floor a herd of Bison at 2 miles, (I had one of them shout right in my face once, I nearly puked and that is NO exaggeration, I then responded to this act of agression by pushing him/it backwards, he fell over the low level wall that has a 6-8 feet drop to the beach on the other side - sadly he recieved no serious injuries).

The reason most people here are becoming so intolerant is because, they are having NO affect on the base or it's business, so they now block the main roads.. thus preventing Doctors, district nurses making home calls (don't forget we have a wide spread rural community around here) preventing emergency services responding, School kids getting in on time for national exams and last but not least.. Joe Average getting to his work.

The list above is not just a generic example, they have all happened, one OAP almost died because it took the ambulance so long to get past them.

The best of the bunch this morning though, along with the usual ignorant pleas there was one complet twat waving a placard reading "Kurdish Autonomy" Now then WTF has that got to do with the average %%%%ing dockyard worker!?!?

The MoD Police are fully armed... but not allowed to use them!... European Legislation, yes even the UK is being sucked into Euro Pansydom.
