I don't know if
a) I'm amazed "sex in the city" became a movie or
b) it's making millions of dollars on the way to becoming a blockbuster.

There was a review of the SATC movie here where the critic was complaining that the film is too gay. He wrote that the two guys who created the series are openly gay, and that the characters are written in such a way that they act more like gay men than normal women.

I don't know ... I saw the TV series maybe 5 times (my soon-to-be wife watched it), but I wouldn't ever consider spending money to see that in a theater.

The upcoming X-Files movie ... I hope that IT will be worth a trip to the cinema! I just saw the first previews of "Get Smart" ... definitely DVD material, but not worth $40 for the two of us to go into the cinema.

My rant for today ... I've got two.

1) The freaking weather! We had one of the warmest May months ever recorded, but June will probably turn out to be one of the wettest and coldest on record. It's freaking JUNE, dammit! And it's raining. Since what seems like weeks. And the temperature isn't going to break the 70°F mark. I DEMAND SUMMER! NOW!

2) The European Soccer Championships. They are out of their freaking minds! They have put up concessions stands in the main train station. One stand had a big sign out - 0.5 liter (about 17 ounces) for CHF 6.- (about US$5.90)!!! They are out of their freaking minds! Would you pay over $11.50 for a 32 ounce BEER? Ever? And another stand had Klöpfer - essentially a fat hotdog - for CHF 6. How much does a beer and a hotdog cost at a major league baseball game? Certainly less than $18! Geez. Get real.

You'd be shocked at how much they're charging for brews at NFL games...

I'm thinking 16 oz beers are $5 here at the ball game; so yes, they are paying all that for 32 oz.

The "x files" movie couldn't live up to your expectations; not to spoil it for you, but I just don't see how it could.

Most movies these days get released for several reasons;

1) ticket sales abroad (american movies)
2) pay per view / dvd sales.

Nowadays a movie only has to do little better than break even at the box office.

At least you get real beer for your money! Here it's watered down even more than usual.

I always worry I'll forget the entry codes to work after that much time off. Then I get depressed when I remember them...

Just got back from the 3 day ride, all was good. I came back only to find the wind still blowing, it was already 31 mph at 5 am this morning. And still no rain. That's my rant right now, the weather. Actually I rant about the weather 360 days a year, as that's how many days it sux.

I'll trade your wind for our daily thunderstorms and rain any time, KD ...

No rain here. Grass is a nice crunchy brown, so I put the mower back into storage. Most likely I won't need it again until next spring. I've got the only 3 year old mower around w/ 4 hours on it.
