| back to the woman who was attached to the toilet seat.. Yeah.. you'da come out kicking and screaming after the first 4 hours went by..one way or another.. I would taken her out of that bathroom.. People and their phobia's.. One woman in Kansas I think was terrified to touch her house hold garbage so it built up and built up until finally she lived in basically a dump site. It smelled, infested with all kinds of critters and was all around just plain nasty but she would not touch it.. she'd just find a spot in her house and start putting her trash there.. man.. what a life.. |

I work with a guy whose wife has an unusual fear of metal. She doesn't touch pennies, she cringes when she has to touch anything metal. She doesn't like for her kids to touch metal. Goofy, huh? FWIW, she's also kind of condescending. Ironic.

| Yes. A snooty snob with a ridiculous phobia. Odd indeed.

| Tonight's rant. My wife brought home freakin' Mic light. I appreciate her effort but I had to tell her there is no way I will drink that swill. I returned the beer, bought my fav and also bought her a decent wine.

yeah........as to why I updated the woman/toilet story, my rant is more with the piece of work that left her in the BR I had a friend in my hometown that had somewhat of an odd sister, I won't go into detail, but anyway, years later on one of my visits back home, I happen to bump into said friend.. ..we got to talkin' and come to find out during said conversation that his sister had some real bad type of "dependency disorder" i.e. needing to be told to go pee for cripes sake......either that or she would set there till severe pain set in and/or wet herself. I guess some people need to be looked out for ya know.....I mean come on, good enough to bring here food and drink in the BR, BUT leave her in there!?!?!?! WTF!!

| I believe in tough love. Make them address their fears head on.. for example.. I watched a news clip once of a woman who was deathly afraid of feathers. You could not come within 10' of her with any kind of feather. She had some mental disorder and focused it all on the feather.. well.. her doctor had her sit down and close her eyes.. he then proceeded to give her random objects to hold for a second or two then he'd give her another. when she opened her eyes at the end of the first session he informed her she had touched a feather 3 times in the midst of the random objects. At first this caused her to cry but over repeated treatments she realized that the feather was no more threatening then anything else. The next part was for her to open her eyes and see the random objects give to her to touch.. and in the exact same order he gave her the feather.. after 35 yrs she could hold a feather without crying or screaming... effective tough love. |

| this reminds me of a story I heard once, whether or not it's true, who knows. So this guy says "I can't get to sleep, every time I go to bed I think there's something under the bed. Then I try to go to sleep under the bed, then I think there's something on the bed. To and fro all night." The doc says "after several years of therapy, we might get somewhere." The guy's uncle says "cut the legs off the bed."
