Default Yanks: Dealing with the cold?

I'm not asking about motorcycling when it's cold, I'm asking about day-to-day operations. I freaking HATE cold weather . . . like a dick rash. A few questions:

1) Skin I'm pretty much used to 80%+ relative humidity. That's what my skin appears to "like." When we get a blast of arctic air (which you northern bastages can keep, btw ) it's always so damned dry that it sucks the moisture out of the tips of my fingers, resulting in horribly painful cracks. I mean the skin just splits open. My dad and several other men at my work get these things too. How do you guys deal with these cracks? Lotion is obviously important, but in my experience most of it's either grease (Lubriderm) or just garbage (Jergen's). I upped my water intake to try and stay hydrated, but no dice. What do you guys do?

2) Cars I scrape car windows 4 out of 5 mornings during the winter. Hate it. HATE . . . it . . . and I'm usually scraping 1/4" or so. What do you guys do with your windshields? Do you use a spray, or do you just buckle down and pour some elbow grease on it?

Also, do you start your car and let it warm up before driving?

Do you use a block heater?

3) Clothes Obviously, we all know to dress in layers, but when the temps drop to the single digits, just going outside can become a life threatening situation. Since you folks live in temps like that a few months out of the year, I bet you are fairly comfortable about knowing which choice of clothing will keep you safe. What do you do? I assume that you guys must cover up every square inch (including the face and neck), but I can't see chicks showing up at work without their makeup on and applying it at their desks. This may happen, but I bet it doesn't.

I have more questions, but they're not coming to me at this point. Any help would be appreciated.
