| Well No Canada for me this time around. But this last weekend I was provided with an opportunity from a guy that goes to our church that I couldn’t pass up. He runs a very successful A/V company. They do installs and events for churches all over the country and Canada. There is a week long event going on at a very large University east of Los Angeles called Loma Linda University. I believe it is part of or connected to the Loma Linda University Medical Center, which from what I understand is one of the foremost leaders in Infant Heart Transplants and they also have a cutting edge Cancer Treatment program. (I used to watch a show on Animal Planet about an ER Doctor that worked there that specialized in snake bites.) Anyway he asked me if I could help with this event that is going to be broadcast live on various Christian stations. At first I was very flattered, I’m the Media Minister at our church and I know I have a talent for running sound, presentation, and lighting equipment but I never thought it was up to the caliber that could be successful in broadcasting. We have worked together on programs for our church for the last 7 years and he believes I can do it. I will be one of four sound engineers required for this event as well as 6 sound techs. All expenses are paid and I will essentially end up with one month’s for on weeks work. He is also hiring my youngest daughter (who works in our Media Ministry) as one of the techs, again all expenses paid and very nice salary for her college fund. We will fly out on Sunday morning and back the next Sunday. I’m glad that my work allowed me this opportunity especially after just being off for 2 weeks. Here are some of the Christian Artists that we will be working with; Denver and the Mile High Orchestra (they were just on Fox's TV show The Next Great American Band), Selah, Steve Green, and Michelle Tumes. |
