Default Christmas gifts?

We're big on gifts - we like to spoil our family and surprise them - we got new Dell laptops for my mother-in-law and brother-in-law and a new PC for my father-in-law. They were all pretty stoked.

I got my wife a violin - I've known she's wanted to learn for a while - but she had no idea - she was so happy that she cried!! I did good!

I got a Husqvarna chain saw and an Oregon Scientific helmet camera.

All in all a great day.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I got an all expense paid trip to Afghanistan!

Seriously, wife took me for a weekend for two at Ceasar's Pocono Resorts. That was really nice and relaxing. Swimming pool in the room as well as a jacuzzi tub.

Spoiled myself with a Playstation PSP for the trip overseas.

And my step-mother got me a great necklace. A medal of St. Michael with the Army National Guard Symbol on the back. Simple, but it was well thought out and it means a lot to me.

Congrats, what model saw, what model saw, what model saw?

Me, I own a Stihl MS 290.

After you own a saw for awhile, you will learn a few things, but that's for later.

As for you Master Sergeant, come back safe. God Bless.

Our family no longer turns the event into a spending competition. Even as a secular holiday it's gotten a little ridiculous.

I got a really cool 7.1 olympus Digital camera from Rae.
plus some really cool shirts.
Rae got hooked up with some serious kitchen stuff. I had it all setup for our big Christmas day dinner ...and she gets food poisioning the night before. She is better today. I managed to pull off the cooking with My first and proabaly the best prime rib I have ever had. Then today we cooked the 31.lb bird. Cajun seasoning....we just sat around and relaxed after all that.

We decided to scale back this year. I received some nice books (Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions, and the history of Harley Davidson motorcycles). I gave my girlfriend some perfume that she likes, and a Guess watch.

Yeah, this year we tried to keep it simple but it still turned out "ok".

I got my mom a nice convection oven from Wal Mart and when she opened it we discovered it was missing a few trays and the manual.. so guess who is getting to take that back to Wal Mart today?? And, guess who can not find the receipt?

They should exchange it in any case... but beyond that little deal it was a good Christmas.

I got a really nice long stem pipe that I have been wanting so now to turn my hair white and grow a beard I will look just like Gandalf... saweeet!! If the chicks didn't dig me before they are SURE to ignore me even more now.. woot!!

Wife got me a new riding jacket. Marinated in cigarette smoke.

I opened the box and whew!! I wore it this morning hoping the wind would air it out. I smell like I'm smoking again.

That freakin' sucks. Don't it?

Which reminds me. Someone gave us one of those. I suppose I should go through it and make sure it's all there and it works!

This year being the "year of the motorcycle" at my house, I had asked for more motorcycle stuff. I got a compass, saddlebag brackets, and saddlebags (Boulevard branded) from my wife. Really cool.

The funny thing is my wife not being mechanically inclined to the point of being clueless wrapped the compass with the saddle bag brackets thinking those two big chunks of steel were needed to mount the compass. At first I was a little confused but when my son and I figured out what she did laughed way more than we should have, but couldn't help ourselves, it was funny. She was ticked that she had ruined the the saddlebag surprise.

It was a good Christmas. In fact 2007 has been a good year and we are grateful at our house.

We're not too big on gifts too but I got the latest iPod.
It's so much smaller than the one I had with so much more memory!!!

Yippee!!

Scott, you have to back to get that oven exchanged?
That sucks, especially with things you bought as a gift. Maybe they packed it in a rush to deliver them in time for the Christmas shopping. I hope you don't have to go through a lot of hassle.

Well Wal Mart is a good sport I guess.. They did not ask for the reciept and instead just gave me a 60 dollar gift card. So I told mom I can either go get another oven or she can have the gift card to do whatever she wants with it. She chose the gift card.. so what did I learn from all this?? Next year everyone is getting gift cards .. lol.. Christmas turned plastic..yeaaahhhh

Gift cards are big here too not only as gifts but people send those as a token of appreciation, for example.

So next year, Christmas shopping will be easy!!!

Since I'm travelling this Christmas I got a lot of gift cards. But my parents also got me a Dremel accessory kit, and my girlfriends parents got me a digital picture frame. My biggest gift though was my girlfriend saying 'yes' to the big question

My first chain saw so I'll be taking it easy but I have about 7 acres of forest to manage (on our 10 acre lot we're going to be building on)
