Cool It's That Time of Year... Again!

Nope not the holidays, just the weather. Texas has got to be the most inconsistent state where the weather is concerned. Today we had a record high of 84, tomorrow we plummet to 38. So in theory I could ride to work in the morning in jeans and my mesh jacket, no liner, and leather gloves. The ride home might require the insulated liner and wind and rain liner, my riding pants (which I wear every day), my winter gloves, and balaclava.

Lovely, just lovely.

Yep, then wait five minutes...it'll change...LOL

I haven't ridden as much as I'd like to this year because of the weather. I try to commute as much as I can but can't afford to wait the weather out 65 miles away from home so I always err on the chance that it WILL rain or the weather WILL turn worse so I've been putting alot of miles on the cage...and have missed some good riding weather on the way back home sometimes...

Last year I was riding home from work in short sleeves, because the forecast was supposed to be good all day. Before I got home it was snowing. I went from 70's to 20's in 2 miles. It looked like I was riding into a grey wall. Yep, a true blue norther. A Harley on snow is quite a handful, amazingly, I made it home w/ going down. As long as I kept momentum I was OK, but stops and starts were tough. Weather forcasters never apologize when they screw up, this time they only sd. the front arrived a little more "quickly" than the computer models suggested. wtf?? go outside and look. Geez..

So....do people STILL watch/listen to weather forecasts???
What's the point? It seems like it's better just to be prepared for everything.

From where I sit I would prefer to have inconsistent weather as opposed to our consistent MN cold. Forecast is teens to 30's. I can still ride but it would just be plain ole cold. I almost went out today when it stopped snowing. The sun came out and the roads were dry but I decided the few beers in my gut would not mix with cold riding.

LOL!
Well I bet that's just you.

It's getting cold here too. But no snow...maybe once or twice a year but around Feb.

I'm going riding today but I hate riding in cold weather. Maybe I should use those hot patches alreay.
