I don't usually send things to people, but this has deeply affected me. Pretty Bird Woman House: Pretty Bird Woman House: Rises From The Ashes! During this fall season we often become introspective, looking at our lives as the colorful leaves fall from the trees outside our windows. What reasons do we have to be thankful to the universe? Many. The indigenous people of this country often do not have as much to be thankful for. And in this case, a case where Amnesty International has issued a report earlier this very year ( http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAMR510352007 ) detailing the lack of justice for indigenous women in the United States, it looks like even hope has vanished in the fire, a clear case of arson, that burned Pretty Bird Woman House to the ground. Our government is known for doing nothing, time and time again. But we don't need them, they often don't truly represent us anyway. But maybe a little money in an envelope, sent to the address in the blog linked to above(it is an IRS recognized charity); a note like this one, sent to a bunch of friends who each might put a few dollars in other envelopes; together maybe we can show these women that We The People care. And maybe in the process, we can help to give them shelter. And Hope. |
