Awesome. There was this guy, a patient, a few weeks ago that, on the surface, seemed like a total b**tard. Nothing was right and he was barking at everyone. At least that is what the nurses, who I must add are very good and so very rarely ever say anything like that, took their time to let me know as if to warn me before I saw the patient. I told them thanks for the warning but that I'd be alright. Fifteen minutes later I came out. I left he door open just so the nurses could see him smiling, laughing and saying an amicable goodbye to me. They looked stunned. The nurse that had "warned" me earlier asked what the hell I did. I told her that sometimes, when one vet is talking to another, it just works better. I gave her a wink and walked away. The look on her face was priceless.

Sometimes it's hard for people to understand how a vet feels inside because the terror of combat can be devastating mentally. I don't know you personally but I do know that you're a good man Jim. Thanks for the story, you did great.

I think this sums it up.

Hats off and a warm salute to our men and women in the armed forces both past, present, and future. Our country should do more for our military families.

Ya'll made us free and keep us that way.. God bless!!

thank you for your service, landry...

The things you saw... not the kind of things we hear about on the news about Boy Scout leaders being arrested, right?

No, horrible things . . .

Monkey bridge accidents . . . improperly splinted fake injuries . . . hot chocolate poured into metal containers causing minor discomfort in the hands of the intended chocolate drinkers . . . it was bad. Real bad.

I am glad to see the increased respect for the veterans. I was in in 1966 thru 1969, you didn't wear the uniform in the US when you did not have to, people called you names and showed much dis respect.
One of my most memorable times was in Germany when I and 3 or 4 buddies went into a restrurant with out door tables. There was a band with a singer, as we took a table in the side of the area the singer stopped and said "we will dedicate this song to the Americans" She then sang the popular song of the time "Downtown" by Petula Clark. I will never forget that moment.

I got my Biennial flight review today. My CFI flew P-51s in WW2 he is 83 and holds a class 1 medical with a ATP rating, he's flown just about everything with wings. If he can keep his ticket for 2 more years he will have held his license for 70 years. He has some pretty good war stories and a whole bunch of good flying stories, I feel privileged to know this man.
