I hopped on a train to Berne this morning. One hour of my life, and CHF 31.00 wasted.

From the train station, catch a bus. Another 15 minutes and CHF 2.00 wasted.

I get to the US Embassy.

Sheesh. Talk about paranoid. The entire city block is barricaded and guarded by heavily armed police. I walk down the street to the Embassy gate. "Wait here."

After a few more minutes, before you are let near the building, you have to surrender ALL electronic devices - phone, pager, MP3 player and car keys. Then you wait a few more minutes to be let into the lobby - one person at a time. There you go through a more comprehensive search than any airport - empty your pockets, walk through the metal detector twice, then get checked with the portable detector (because my evil jacket had metal buttons).

The go wait inside until your number is called.

Me: "Hi. I need an affidavit. I want to get married in Europe."
Woman behind the bullet-proof glass: "Were you married before?"
Me: "Yes."
Woman: "We need a copy of your divorce decree."
Me: "Oh. It would have been nice if you would have maybe made a note on your website or in the response to the e-mail I sent a few days ago about what documents I should bring."
Woman: {shrugs shoulders}

Needless to say, I'm NOT amused. All in all, I wasted about $30 and 4 hours of my life (and overtime hours), so that I can repeat the whole eff'ing process again tomorrow.

33F this morning. Had about 5" snow last night, predicting another 6" to 12" today. It just doesn't seem like it's ever going to end.

So anyways, good morning. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Tornados. Ouch. No damage at Landry Station, but mucho torn up stuff elsewhere across the city. $500,000 looted from the mall that got hit. Yay! for the ghetto goblins!

Glad to hear you're ok Mark. We had a pretty close call... I could see a funnel down the road but it went back up before reaching us.

Pretty intense.

I saw no funnels. Yeah, we got it good last night. Glad to hear you weren't hit. I was wondering, because most of the action was RIGHT THERE where you live.

Glad everyones Ok. We've got snow here and am getting more now. Local TV stations are so consumed with continuous weather news and reporters standing out in the snow saying "yup, there's snow here on the corner of so and so, Oh, let's talk to this person walking by," that I didn't realize there was bad weather elsewhere. This winter sux.

Interviewing the "man on the street" for weather is as retarded as interviewing a sports star about their plans for the game.

Man on Street: "Yeah, it's, uh, snowing." <DUH!>

Sports Star: "My plan is to step it up on defense and try to move the ball every chance I get." <Double DUH!>

Just once, I'd like to hear:

Man on Street: "Snowing?!? WTF? I wish I'd noticed sooner, I wouldn't have worn these suede bermuda shorts."

Sports Star: "I just want to play as many seasons as I can without getting hurt so that I don't have to go back to the lifestyle I was living before. I am so high."

LOL yeah.... well there are 2 programmers here, the other one has been showing up late to work, missing a lot lately... I'm thinking he won't be here too much longer. The downside to all this is I get to pick up his slack.
