Default Military Roll Call

Hey all, saw Zamussi's pic and was wondering who else is/was in any of the services. So post up what service you were in, what ya did, where ya did it, and all that junk

I was in the Navy for 6 years. Electricians Mate (Nuclear) onboard USS Theordore Roosevelt, CVN-71. Got out as an E6, I liked my time in the Navy but wanted to pursue a degree and a family.

I'm center in the pic. Running the electric plant onboard the carrier.

Wasn't able to join the military due to massive lower back problems but I am proud of our men and women who have served and given up their lives for this country. God bless you all, God keep you safe and protected, and God send you back home if your deployed in some other country.. You've made everyone here very proud of your efforts..

I was in the Air Force but have been out since '98. I was a computer programmer at Randolph AFB in San Antonio.

I joined for shower time... and the notoriety of on-base women.

Did 27 years, in many different theatres, 25 years in Submarines, so I can't talk too much about that, except of course the funny stuff.. and these smelly submariner gits are pretty wild.
Served,
Ships..

HMS Fife
HMS Abdiel

then subs as follows..

HMS/M Ocelot
HMS/M Conqureor
HMS/M Warspite (9 years)
HMS/M Victorious

Moved into the school and did a wee bit of seariding (assessing) even rode USS Alaska During her post D5BF DASO, I think 02 or 03.

Quit 18 months ago, and now I look after the navy's Ship Control Submarine Simulator.. (Dive and Drive to those who like rhyming slang).

And yes, before Adam kicks off with his vast political experience, I have "done" Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands and a few other political hot potatoes.

Buster, I simply love that we are on a first name basis.

I think we will be completely in love once you start calling me "Yank"... though don't take that as a euphemism.

Hey Buster,
What type of power systems do your subs have? I worked on a couple of old ballistic submarines that were turned into moored training ships.

I'm still in, sorta...

I've been active duty coast guard now for 5 years, I'm an E-4 (I haven't really found a niche yet). I am switching over to the Army here in a few weeks to give that a go. In the Coast Guard I was first a Machinery Technician and then a Marine Science Technician. In the Army I will be a Health Care Technician (Field Medic) and hopefully I can get my LPN cert straight out of the shoot so if I decide to get out in a few years I'll at least be empolyable. I have been stationed in Valdez, AK and Detroit, MI both are shore units, I have never been on a boat for more than 2 hours in 5 years.

G'day from Downunder Guys,

I was pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force for nearly 14 years and flew Hueys, Hercs and Boeing 707s. I went all over the world and only left for an airline job because the service wanted to promote me and put me behind a desk. I was a Squadron Leader, Major equivalent, flying the B707 when I left in 1988. I joined our international airline, QANTAS, where I am now a B767 Captain.

The bike I ride is a 1980 GSX 750 Suzuki, which I've had since almost brand new, it's in mint codition and still gets a thrashing around the hills where I live, north west of Sydney, from time to time. I can't see the need to replace it.

Always enjoy reading the posts on this forum.

Regards.

G'day Navy,

Yeah, it's a real get up and go machine on the shorter sectors when it's nice and light.

As you can tell by my avatar I was in the United States Marine Corps, prior to that I served in the Canadian Army (Red Béret), 22nd Regiment. Sea going Marine aboard the aircraft carrier USS Randolph CVS-15 during the Cuban blockade. Viet Nam vet. Weapons and tactics instructor in Camp Geiger, that was great duty. For me the military was a life saver, had I not enlisted I propably would have ended up in the proverbial big house. Now I'm retired living comfortably with my wife of 44 years, the kids are grown up and have a family of their own. I just turned 65 and life is good. This my life in a very condensed format.

I was in the Army from 89 to 92, got out after Desert Storm. I was a FM radio repairman which is basicly a slightly skilled grunt. Spent most of my service with the 1st Infantry Division and a little time in Germany. Got out as an E-4.

USMC 87-91. Combat Engineer. Got out as E-4 after Desert Storm.
Had I stayed in I'd be retiring this year.

I am with the Army national guard and workin on year 7yrs right now. Currently serving with a vertical engineer unit as a carpenter in North Dakota. I served for 4 years in South Dakota as a MLRS Repairman. Thats the rocket launchers on a tank body basically. I've been lovin the time and the comrades you meet and work with (foreign and domestic). Keep up the good work prior and current enlisted, regardless even if CNN (communist news network) wants to show only the bad things your doing now and not the good things. I.E. schools, shelters, realtive peace in 80% of the country, and so on.
Drive on Soldiers!
