Default Good God the Heat!!

My little weatherbug's chirping at me to tell me that it is a whopping 104 today!!!

Eeyowza.

Due to the low humidity, it doesn't feel as miserable as it should. Memphis is in that latitudinal zone that stays humid a lot of the time. We're at 29% right now, so it actually feels tolerable out there. Friday and onward, our humidity should return to our "normal" range, which is usually >65%, but it'll be "cooling off" to 97 or so.

When you walk outside and feel the wind, it's like a big stinking haridryer aimed at your face. The wind just whips along and strips the heat off of everything, depositing it on your skin.

I remember back in 1980, when we had >100 degree days for over a month. Hot, brother. I was a lot younger then, about 10 I guess. That was one hot summer, but we still carried on business as usual, riding bikes, playing ball, screwing around shooting at one of the many creeks that score the countryside. Those were the days, but I digress . . .

Anyone else getting some bizarre temps in their part of the country?

We've had a hot summer. It's been in the 90's most days for a month or more. That's hot for a place that sees -30F most winters.

Finally this week we've seen reprieve from the drought and heat. It's 73 right now. I should go ride again.

Here are some key factors that "we" along the coastal areas take into consideration..
First ... how cold was last years winter? If it was mild then chances are the Gulf water temps are still high (usually running over the 70 deg mark) and as we all know a hotter Gulf means fuel for storms coming across the Atlantic.

Second .. since the winters are usually mild that means we are in for one hot summer and so far good ol Miss and Bama have had record breaking temps all month long ranging anywhere from 100 to 106 deg with hummidity looming like a sweaty sock over our faces.. yeah gross..

SO .. class.. What does it all mean??? Glad you asked.. that means to us
that as in 05 we should see more hurricanes reaching CAT 5 status.. Scientifically speaking that means this is gonna suck monkey balls!!

Already we have a tropical storm racing across the Atlantic now.. and trust me.. every redneck weather man is watching the skies to be the first "Redneck Doplar" tracker to scream out "Her she comes and boy howdy thats a gonna be a big ol storm.." so that we can sit back on the porch and say to each other, as we view the damage left after the storm is gone and we are infeasted with love bugs, WOW! Bubba was right..

I said all that to say this.. its hotter than hell.. and I SHALL be the first redneck doplar to say its gonna be a bad bad super bad hurricane season this year..

I hear Antartica is nice this time of year..lmao.. I can imagine Memphis isn't fairing any better.. meatmanlandry your gonna be up to your arm pits in dead Elvis's ..lol.. I'll bring my shovel brotherman..

[meatman turns over a pile of smouldering sideburns stripped from some of the bagged impersonators]

Remember what they say, when the storm comes, "duck and cover."

Most of these impersonators are in their 60 and 70s, so they're slow moving and easy to lead, especially with blade sights. If you use a scope, you sometimes lose them in the bushes as they graze. These things eat a LOT of food in a short amount of time. I once saw one devour an entire Wendy's drive-thru window INCLUDING THE WORKER just because someone whispered "peanut butter and banana sandwich."

I'll let you know if we're going to need another shovel. So far, so good. We started by taking out the stronger ones this year. It worked to our advantage. Normally, we fight with the strong ones while trying to pick off the weak ones that gather near the center of the herd. Since we've "harvested" all of the fast strong ones, the weak ones are now easy picking.

The limit this year (now that the season is fully open) is 25' (cumulative based on height) or 650 pounds, whichever is less. That means you can shoot about 4 "young Elvis" impersonators, or a couple of "old Elvis" impersonators in a day's hunt.

They still won't let us bait them, but we can spotlight after 9 pm!

Ya know this thread could just go on and on this way..lmao.. I have enough stupid in me for at least 4 good pages worth.. lol

We had a mild winter..

It got mild in about march, which was great.... BUT.... the phaquing weather hasn't changed since march.
Oh.. except for the fact that the rain is a degree or two warmer.

Oh yeah BB.. we get all techy about the weather.. If you can't see the Clyde, it's coz it's raining. If you can see the Clyde, it's coz it's gonna rain.

Wish we had hot weather peelin' all the clothes off the ladies...

It gets boiling hot here in the afternoon and doesn't really slack off at night, either. We run the air conditioner for days sometimes.

I feel your pain TMML. Luckily I work indoors in a nice air-conditioned office but as soon as I step outside my eyelashes curl inwards from the heat. It's just insane out there.

Anytime I think about complaining when it comes to the heat, I just remind myself of snow and how much I hate winter.

Good point. Everyone was dreading the heat on our way out to the parking lot after work earlier in the week. I had them stop and envision that it would be cold as hell when we walked out that door. Once we opened it and felt that sun on our faces . . . it was almost comfortable.

Sunny, do you really not have an AC? Damn. I know you don't really care for me , but I promise if I lived near you, I'd be hooking you up with a window unit for cheap. I know folks around here. You be careful in this heat (assuming you don't have AC). There's folks in their 30's dying in this town from the heat.
