Or something similar.

I always prefered Chuck Berry. But my intolerance of Elvis Presley has fade with age.

<tried to edit the last post to no avail>

They estimate that 75,000 people will be in town this week. That's a LOT of doughnuts.

The city proper is only 650,000 people. That's an 11.5% swell. Without Elvis, this city would only be known for BBQ, corrupt politics and crime.

That is why I live just outside of Germantown to avoid those nuts.

Strange coincidence... my birthday is Elvis' death day. August 16th, though he died on my 1st birthday not the same year I was born ( so I'm not an Elvis reincarnate )

I went by Graceland earlier. Surprisingly calm and people-free. There was an impersonator there (tee-hee) hanging out in front of the gates. I also saw a line of folks waiting for *something*. It wasn't to get in, 'cause people were waltzing in left and right. I suspect that these nuts have to be "first" for the candlelight vigil. What an honor.

I also went by the mausoleum at Forest Hill, where he was first buried. He stayed there for a short amount of time until some nuts tried to steal his body (WTF?!?). Anyway, we had a little Elvis trip this morning. Quite boring, except for the mausoleum . . . you could walk right up and stroll in. Full of dead folks. SO GLAD the zombie invasion didn't spontaneously erupt while I was in there.

rofl.

I always wondered why they have it on the 15th when he died on the 16th. Whatever though

BTW your comment about BBQ... I don't mind being a famous city for that... my father's on an unsponsored team in Memphis in May and place top 10 every year in multiple categories.... great BBQ.

Unsponsored team + Germantown = spoiled Memphis brat

(kidding)

We'll have to get together and ride sometime. Ever ventured up north towards Millington?

Actually I'm a soon-to-be new-but-old rider...

I'm in the tedious process of getting my hopefully soon-to-be-new bike financed.

I used to own an '85 Yamaha Maxum 750 back in 1994-1995 but I have since retired it ( truth be told, I was in college, it broke down, I was too broke to fix it and had to trash it ). I'm in the process of getting a 2007 SV650. I hope I get it though... my credit kinda screwed up due to some really stupid decisions back in College and a bit more recently ( though my wife handles most of the bills so I can somewhat blame her but ultimately it still falls to me ). I have a co-signer that has friggin outstanding credit it's just a matter of someone that makes the decision having some actual intelligence

Anyways, my college riding days were up in northwestern Indiana and not around Memphis. I have not yet ridden a bike here in the Memphis area.

Also, I'm 31 ( as of tomorrow ) and I don't live in Germantown, I'm close to it though ( Lincoln on the Green apts near TPC Southwind ).

As soon as I get the bike, I'd love to go riding. I have a friend that just got a Yamaha YZ6 and was born and raised here in the Memphis area ( more in the Tipton county area but still ) so I'm sure we'll do plenty of riding up in that area.

Anyways, just wanted to clear the air there.

When you get ready to ride, let me know. I ride mostly on the roads that traverse the bluff up north of Shelby Forest park. Great stuff up there. I'm no Rossi, but I have a good time riding the curves.

LOL, makes me think of Honeymoon in Vegas

The only Elvis Impersonator I like is the one that sings Led Zeppelin songs to a reggae beat

The group is called Dred Zeppelin
