I'll join the fray!

about 5' 7"

230-235

Goal: 180

I'm sorta stocky and got a frame like my husky dad. Not gonna be a petite small framed woman. Nope.
Started out about 280...

After eliminating some variables my scale reads an even 218lbs. I just found out that my timeline for entering the Army has been accelerated by 1.5mo so I have roughly 1mo to drop at least 18lbs. I'll probably drop to my goal weight of 185 while in training.

ok boys. scoot over for the heavy weight. in other words " move over bacon, now there's something meatier". i quit smoking back on march 1st (yeah i cheated a little in gatlinburg). i have gone up from 250 to 280 in that time. i am 6'2"/ 280lbs. i recently had knee surgery (the week after gatlinburg) and am recovering. my goal is 200 lbs which i weighed 3 years ago. i will be able to start running again soon as my physical therapist said my recovery is going along very very fast. i'm already doing deep knee bends and all. i currently eat an apple for breakfast, tuna for lunch and then supper. i drink at least 1 gallon of water a day. hopefully, i will be running 4 miles a day again within 1 year and i hope to be at 200 lbs within 18 months.

Watch that knee outlaw - it's just not worth a permanent injury - running is over-rated for cardio workout - there are plenty of ways to get in shape and achieve aerobic fitness without pounding your knees. If you start running at 280lbs, it won't be long before you seriously damage that knee or something else!
I used to be a die hard "running is the best way to stay in shape" guy - I was running a 10k every morning while in the service. I found that bike/EFX combo is effective, as well as circuit training to build strength. I also enjoy a good heavy bag workout - probably the best workout for your core.
Swimming has to be one of the ultimate aerobic workouts if you have access to a decent pool.
Good luck!

thanks ORBit. i guess i should clearify what i meant by running at the moment. i have an eliptical, exercise bike and treadmill at work. i plan on getting my weight down to about 240 before i "pound the ground" and then only a mile or so to get started. i used to run 6 miles a day 3 days/week and 4 miles 2 days/week with a 2 day rest. this is what i look like at 280lbs notice my hurt sniff sniff knee.

YEAH UHHH THAT IS GROSS!!!!!

Well, I find the best way is to just not eat it.

Really, when I diet, I just don't eat things that are bad. It sucks.

Okay, I'll play along.

Current Stats:
- Height: 185cm / 6'1"
- Weight: 103kg / 227 lbs (down from a high of 110kg/243 lbs in October 2006)
- Target Weight: 95kg / 210 lbs

Dieting method: "Dinner Canceling". I simply don't eat anything after about 5pm (but I do keep myself hydrated with fruit teas and water). I am also trying to cut down on sugar in my diet - drinking Coke Zero instead of the "hard" stuff (when I do drink cola).

Well this weekend was the last hurrah for me. Went to a wedding where I saw the biggest spread of chocolate known to man. Sheesh.

But anyways got all the drinking, gut loading and all out of the way and last night "J" and I went to the store to buy the stuff we need to make things work.

We both decided that we want to make a drastic change in things and went through the fridge last night ridding it of the things we don't need anymore.

Bought a bunch of stuff that will be better for us and hopefully we will start seeing some major changes in the next month or so.

But this last hurrah weekend set me back a few more pounds as well. I now see that if you go off of the Nutrisystem it can really pile back on you. But with this new "Lifestyle" then there should not be any more of the roller coaster effect.

Today is the official start date for me: 238 pounds

Good for you. Just keep thinking that you're not going somewhere bad or unpleasant, but to where you should've been all along.
