I haven't had time to read the entire thread, but this is an awesome idea!

I'm 6'3, 220 llbs...however, I might be one of the few here trying to gain weight. I've been supplementing and lifting like hell since last semester ended. Since the first week of May, I have added 14 pounds of muscle and maintained the same body fat percentage. My goal at the beginning of summer was to be 225 by the time I get back to school in late August...so far so good.

Good luck to everyone!

My goal was to get into my old 34" waist jeans. Don't know that my weight is my issue so much as my fitness is. I still can't get into the jeans but I am cutting out the chocolate and have got back into jogging and tennis. Need to get on those sit-ups though I think that will help the most. I'm going to start those this week.

I've been trying to get myself to lift weights again, too, but I just haven't been interested. I'm also trying to train myself to keep away from the chocolate, too. The problem with much activity is that we don't even own the property we live on and Granny can't stand much noise. There are no real good parks around here, we've lived here for 11 years almost, and we know the place like the backs of our hands. There's no where new to go. There's really even no where old to go. We have a real boring situation around here a lot. We're not even allowed to get in the creek because it's full of snags and deep holes. What is there to do???

Well this weekend was not a good weekend. Last minute had to go to Alabama for a family emergency on "J"s side. So fast food and hospital food plus travel nibbles threw me back 3-4 pounds.

But back on it today though and let's see what Friday brings.

Gotta figure out how to avoid "emergency" food. In our modern fast-paced world, that's every other day. There are plenty of ways around it. Worst case scenario, think Subway and hospital salads.

I only ate toast for the last 3 days...I can hardly wait to check tonight.

I forgot to weigh myself this morning...but considering the yard work I did this weekend too...I'm sure I lost a few pounds.

Wow! How come all you guys can do it and I never can! Oh, I know.... you all don't know how to cook. Hmmmm... I'll have to forget how to, too.

Well, don't take this the wrong way, Ab, but first thing you need to do is stop with the excuses. Just because you know is wrong and admit it, doesn't make it ok.
None of us will never lose weight if we just keep saing, "I'll do better next time".

In reality, that's all there is to it. Think about it. If it wasn't easier said than done, it would be easier done than said and we wouldn't be talking about it.

I unofficially lost 7 lbs. over the last 2 or 3 days because my mouth hurt too much to eat.

  1. You eat...you work out to burn what you just ate!
  2. You don't eat such LARGE portions!
  3. Eat a salad before your meal so you will not eat sooo much!
  4. Stay away from Hydrogenated oil...evil stuff, your body doesn't know what to do with it so it sits in your body FOREVER! You can't burn it off.
  5. Eat fruit or veggies w/ ranch dressing for a snack instead of candy, chips, brownies, etc.
  6. Learn to just say no...

Americans are known to engorge themselves and that's really too bad. Our restaurants are known to serve huge portions....ask for a to-go box with your meal and put half of it in the box so you don't over eat. Simple changes in habits will help a lot in the end. When you eat at a fast food joint, get a salad or a sandwich w/ no fries. You don't have to always get fries, and no soda! If you guys and gals read up on soda, which some of you probably have, you wouldn't touch the stuff. I admit, the only time I drink a soda and not a whole one is when I am hung over. The carbination helps the tummy! And last but not least....NO EXCUSES! Theres enough of those in the world today. Ok, I'm off my soap box. ~Good luck everyone!~

Damn Honey ...how many starsmucks did you have today...

Really Rae has gotten me back into eating healthy like I did back in the Navy...I guess it is the SOCAL diet.

Thanks, Chic...you're right. I know I have been excusing my overeating. I guess I'm just lazy?

Today I got out and did about 1 1/2 hours of weedeating, then I went out and did some running around. I put out a lot of sweat! I've heard that when you sweat, you burn calories. Is that true?

I also didn't overeat today. I've been eating a lot more fruit lately, too. Like Clint said, peer pressure can help. It's helping me...it's the good kind of peer pressure.

We're all lazy, that's why we have this thread. It's what we do from here, in my opinion, that matters. I'm all about tough love. Ticks the Queen off, but that's just the way I am. I encourage good behavior and success, but push for more. And I feel it is not Ok that we didn't try this time.

It's good that you were sweating, it could mean you were exerting yourself some, but it could also have meant it was just hot out. Sweating isn't neccessarily a relation to calorie burn. The amount of exercise and your max heart rate is.

This is a good start, and we have to start somewhere. Keep it up and as you get more comfortable with smaller portions and less eating, eat a little less. And yes, the right foods will make a difference, too.

I think we midwesterners need to keep the layer of fat nice n thick for the cold winter. You SoCal folks can shed it all you want. It's nice n warm there.

Anyway, we have to balance you folks out otherwise the planet will start to wobble.
