Not being able to use the toilet in your own house is pretty dang inconvenient!!! Here's the scoop... Anything flushed down the toilet other than liquids has consistently clogged the toilet in my rented house. Plunging the toilet has been consistently ineffective, and also usually forces water out of the base of the toilet (flippin' NASTY). Plumber 1 ran an auger (snake) down the toilet, which cleared the clog. He also ran a fresh bead of caulk around the base to contain any water forced out. The toilet worked sufficiently for about a month before the problem came back. Plumber 2 replaced the toilet entirely, along with a new wax ring, but did not seal the base of the toilet. Only days after this service, the toilet is still having the exact same problems. What are my options? I'm led to believe that the problem lies within the plumbing beyond the toilet, and I'm really not sure what can be done about that. Simply having the toilet serviced twice has not done anything at all, and I'm almost willing to take this problem into my own hands instead of having my landlord send someone out to service the commode again. I've been considering using a deposit remover such as this before trying anything else. |
