Workplace? Two of my last four supervisors were female. One was the best boss I ever had, the other not so much. I've had numerous female coworkers, some are extremenly competent, others not so much. Bottom line, I'd rather work with or for a competent woman than an incompetent man, and I've run into my share of those too.

And it starts early. I remember being frustrated as a grocery front-end manager in the mid-90s with young women who didn't think they should have to do the same jobs as the young men, yet they wanted equal pay. How many bag "girls" do you see?

On the flip side, there were several government sites that placed " Formal Requests " that one of our company supervisors or foreman attend the Pre - Performance Conference so we would have someone to explain the work needed to Jean ( Project Manager ) when the work commenced.

That used to really piss me off considering Jean understood the needs better than 90% of the Government reps.

BTW - Jean was one of my bosses when I started with the company.

i would like to point out something that obviously has escaped your own eyes concerning your responses to my comments.

when i made my first comment about how women like her make things difficult for women like me and my girls.

you men IMMEDIATELY assumed i was referring to women in the context of relationships. not a single one of you made a PRIMARY connection to women in any other sphere of your life.
therefore i commented on that fact, and each of you IMMEDIATELY went on the defensive with the normal "i've had women bosses". that fact was never under scrutiny.
what is now under scrutiny is how the first thought that comes into your mind concerning women being ill-treated on account of the existence of women like HER is: YOUR personal relationships to women. and YOU defending yourselves.

because i sure can say i never blamed one cotton-pickin' thing on any one of you.

you guys need to look inward a wee little bit more and look at how you respond to things. and you also need to remember that this world does not revolve around men and what men want from women. if what a woman says about her experience with men doesn't apply to you, then don't get defensive about it. all it does it make the conversation all about YOU. she's not attacking you. she's looking for an ALLY against sexism in you.

i've got a link that says it far more eloquently than i can ever say it, if you want to read it. if you are not interested, i won't bother.

Just catching up here, and I have a question. While I agree with sunny wholeheartedly, I have to ask: What is it that the hot chicks are doing in the sack that you feel you are being pressured to do? If it makes you uncomfortable, just say no and I'm sure things will continue without further mention of whatever it is that the hot chicks are doing that makes you feel uncomfortable.

Sunny,

Jeans story was an example of your comment. Jeans 5'4" tall, long blond hair, blue eyes, C cup bra and 105 lbs. soaking wet. All through her career Jean fought against the " dumb blond " & " be a good girl and get us some coffee " stereotypes. It goes without saying that Celeb's and models like Paris Hilton make things a bit more difficult for professional women.

However, I believe there are deeply ingrained prejudices against women in the work force that are much worse ( I'll bring that up with Jean ). I think the unrealistic body images placed on girls and women by these bubble heads is far worse.

Things are changing. I honestly believe the majority of men aren't effected by the Paris Hilton types or expect that they will find a June Clever to be their subservient homemaker.

I've seen first hand what these prejudices, that P. H. / model types help perpetuate, can do to a woman physically and mentally. Lucky I'm a guy and I don't have to go through it.

I'll just settle for being wrong, by definition, and go back to being a misogynistic pig,

it's more fun anyway.

I'd post a current pic, but she refuses to allow me to photograph her.

[inspiron pops his head up]

I've worked with very intelligent people, and some incredibly dim-witted people. Gender, race and religion had nothing to do with this. Some people are simply better at retaining information, and recalling/using their knowledge at the right time.

In one position, I had one boss who was a super motivator, but knew almost nothing about what his department was doing. I called him the "cocaine boss", since he couldn't help solve any problems, but he did make you feel really good for an hour or so. After a couple of years, as the project was reaching a peak, he was promoted away, and replaced with another guy. This guy, equally clueless about IT projects, was more interested in pursuing his own interests than leading the team. He was fired after about 1 year. They then brought in a woman - the highest ranking woman in the company at that time. This woman was given the task to end the project as soon as possible, and did so without regard for anyone else. She ignored the recommendations from the project team (about how to recover the project and gain more value from the investment) and put half of us out of work. Most of the 88 million invested in the project were written off.

Now, 10 years later, I can look back and laugh.
The "cocaine boss" was fired a couple of years later because of unethical behavior. He had booked millions in kickbacks from different vendors (there were rumors about this when I worked for him, but we could never prove anything). His successor had been fired after a year. The woman who came in to kill the project was also no longer working for the company after a couple years - after a top management change, her political "protection" was gone, so she was fair game for the new management.

Again, it doesn't matter - male or female - in the office, we're all the same. Some are wonderful friends, others are barely tolerable. Or worse.

And back to the Hilton topic ... they were just talking about her on the radio. Apparently some of the prison guards have taken pictures of her on the toilet and are trying to earn some extra $$$ selling these pictures.

Sheesh. I don't know what's worse. Someone actually wanting to see pictures of a bimbo taking a leak, or someone misusing their authority to earn a few dollars by taking pictures of a bimbo taking a leak.

i'm wondering about something here. what is wrong with her being unashamedly sexual? men are like that all the time... do i smell "double standard" here?

the only reason i don't like her is that she acts like a little girl and expects priviledges joe average doesn't get.

Being "unashamedly sexual" can be viewed in different ways.

I'm sure she is just trying to be provocative, trying to catch as much publicity as possible. But even very public figures want/need some element of privacy.

And as you said, some men are attracted to the "dumb tramp blond". I'm not. There are many celebrities who I think are much more attractive and interesting than Paris "hey, watch me" Hilton.

But, for better or worse, the ups and downs of the new teenie generation (Paris Hilton, Brittney Spears, etc.) sells magazines. As soon as these people stop being interesting (in other words, having their picture on the cover of a magazine doesn't guarantee higher sales), the media will drop them and they will quickly fade away.

Eh the only reason (and I have many)I can't stand her....one she is breathing our air..two She puts the DumbBLONDE in dumbblonde. Damn that could be a long list.
I don't think I have ever found that "oh I cutie and helpless" act a turn on. I actually dumped a chic that acted like her. Yep Blonde..had millions...etc. She had no substance at all.
