|  Kitchen Failure
Well, today I tried to make a chocolate cake roll. I followed the directions, but because I didn't have parchment paper, I used waxed paper (does anyone know if I can substitute waxed paper for parchment?). Then I baked it according to the directions, and for some reason, I couldn't tell when it was done. I did the rest of the directions the way I read them, and it flopped. So then what did I do? I turned it into Quake Cake, which is just a flopped cake or even cookies crumbled up into pudding and served cold. It's sorta like a hot fudge cake, only it's served cold with whipped cream....yum! It's interesting to see what old flops can turn into.  Even though I was disappointed that it would never be a pretty cake roll that looked so good.  |
