As I'm sure a lot of you can agree, as motorcyclists, we get to observe a lot of human nature in drivers. These are just a few of my observations lately.. 1) Hypocrisy - It's amazing, driving to work today, I was passed by at lease 3 cars doing 100 mph +, what was kinda funny was that 2 of the cars had at least one ribbon magnet on them. One car had a "Support our Troops" and another had the same one, plus a pink Breast Cancer ribbon magnet. The third car had a license plate promoting Organ donation..Kinda weird that they're so civic minded and empathetic, yet they drive like morons and risk the safety of others. 2) A Volvo 240 Stationwagon in terrific shape, what was odd about it was all of the Punk Rock stickers all over it with a car seat in the back. 3) The majority of unsafe and speeding drivers I see are in White Ford trucks or other vehicles that are white in color (might just be that it's popular here in Arizona). 4) Old people in Ferrari's, Corvettes and other high performance vehicles driving them 15 miles below the speed limit. Got behind one the other day at a stoplight and he was revving the heck out of it, about a 75 year old man with the Ferrari jacket and cap on, revving it up, I thought, "Cool for him, he's going to take off really fast"...Nope, the light changed, he gunned it, let out the clutch then took his foot off the throttle and proceeded at 25 mph in a 45 mph zone..go figure..... 5) Do you ever make a judgement call as to which car or cars to get behind at a stoplight thinking that it will be the faster lane? How many times are you right? I'm finding it's about 50/50 but the people in the cars with handicap plates really surprise me by going faster than the old people in the 'Vettes or Ferraris.... |
