| Well some times you just have to draw a line. Today I received an e-mail from a user with an attached pic of his desktop and the error message he was receiving. I was appalled that he thought that the pic he had set for a background was appropriate. Even though the error message covered most of the screen the pic was still quite visible. Below is my response to the content of his Desktop. As I’m sure you are aware we have a corporate policy concerning inappropriate content. The background you have selected for you desktop is not appropriate for the corporate environment. It is also against company to distribute this type of image via corporate e-mail. As per our policy I will be in contact with your manager concerning this issue. This infraction of company may result in your immediate dismissal. The error message you are receiving is related to the image on your desktop. I’m sure that it is an active desktop image and is trying to link to other questionable sites. The Active desktop image is preventing Norton from working properly. We may have to re-image your hard drive to correct this issue. The cost of this will be extracted form your paycheck since it is caused by a non work related issue. This is in accordance with the company policy that you signed off on when you received the computer. You can go to HR and request a payment plan if you can not pay it all out of one check. If you wish to appeal this decision you can also do this in HR. If you are dismissed due to this issue then payment will be taken from your final paycheck. If your check will not cover the cost to repair this PC then you will be billed for the remainder. Might I suggest that the next time you send a screen shot to Client Services you remove questionable images or replace them with images more appropriate to our corporate environment. A factory bike that carries the #1 plate like Ben Spies’ Suzuki should prevent further harassing e-mails such as this. Here was the image on his desktop. What was the guy thinking? ![]() And yes I actually sent him the above e-mail. He has only worked here 3 months. He said he almost had to get his chair cleaned when he started reading my e-mail. Nope I've never met him or spoke with him before. |
