| Do you use IE7 and how do you like it? I think it is pretty cool except for the fact when you right click and select "Open in new tab" it treats it like a pop up.

| I've used it and it's a good step up from 6 but I always seem to go back to Maxthon. It runs on top of IE not in addition to it and it just works better to me. Maxthon Browser – Tabbed Internet browser software |

IE7's a big step forward, but why would I switch back from Firefox?

Yeap! It was my 3rd party pop up blocker software from Highstream causing it. Much better now. One of my co-workers uses Firefox and loves it. I've never tried it. He said that 7 has a lot of the same features.

| Seat Tester | What is this internet explorer you speak of? I use Firefox too. I loaded it on my machine and truly dislike the new Microsoft way with icons versus text. I don't like how much room is wasted with menu/toolbars. I had the beta Office 2007 and it is very similar. It has been un-installed because I was tired of trying to figure out which menu thinks were moved to and what icon was for what. Open Office and Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird are my alternatives to the Microsoft Empire. Last edited by trafficdan; 01-16-2007 at 11:39 PM. |

| As has been said, IE7 is a big step up. But until they fix the security problems that have been present for YEARS, I won't be using it at home (at work, I'm forced to use IE - however, we're still on 6 here, since 7 hasn't been "certified" for some of our web-based applications) unless I absolutely have to.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | FireFox user here, with the IETab plug-in for "evil" websites (like my company's webmail and time reporting systems *grrr*). Maxthon is also installed for those times where even IETab is not sufficient. FireFox is my preferred browser on all machines. IE7 is installed at home - works fine, also behind Maxthon. IE6 is installed on my notebook - evil, but necessary.

| our company is blocking access to ie7 downloads until our beta testers have confirmed that breakage of existing software will be non-existent. i expect that to happen sometime in late 08.

As for claiming Firefox is a copy of IE, I don't have to work very hard to point out all the innovative features FF had before IE adopted them, not the least of which being STANDARDS COMPLIANCE.

| No, you don't get it. It's not Firefox that's incompatible, it's THE WEBSITES. Sure, IE tends to display more poorly built pages than FF, but that's changing. Eventually all sites will be required to meet internet standards or simply go away. For those lame-ass developers who build only for IE (meaning they use non-standard code that only IE tries to display), you can use the "IE tab" plugin for Firefox. It's a simple fix to what's actually IE's problem. I guess it's a matter of principle. I refuse to accommodate Microsoft's blatant disregard for established web standards. As a web developer, it's a real nightmare. They're coming around, but slowly.
